Absolutely, I saw them 3 or 4 times in that era between 97-99 and every show was just impecable. Friggin scenerie coming to life and just mayhem unfolding before your eyes. Music was so clear and comparable to the actual album quality. I have seen them play every song I ever wanted to hear except GOR GOR.. But I'm pretty happy over all.

Anytime someone shits on GWAR, I assure them they could probably crush their favorite bands hardest song, but I'd love to see their favorite band try to cover nearly any GWAR song.

I'll never forget seeing Gwar. It was Sounwave 2014 only a few weeks before Oderus died. There was one person between me and the barrier so I was real close, and during the first song while he was performing Oderus looked at me, pointed his finger at me, and then pointed his cuttlefish dick at me and blinded me with dick blood. It was the greatest moment of my life.

i couldnt tell you what the best gwar dvd is because its subjective. but the one i like a helluv a lot is the beyond hell dvd. its got some cool stuff on it. and the lust in space one is good too. the classic live from antarctica is unbeatable as well. and they have a couple others that arent live, the compilation one has a bunch of cool stuff on it too.

wacken doesn't really have a language barrier, people from all over Europe go to it and the majority speak English because English is taught in basically every countries education system. its just giant crowds tend to be more static overall because the majority of people at small shows dont mosh now amplify that by 100 times more.

I remember that gig exactly, i was 16 back then. It was one of the last shows played on Wacken 2009. It was 3 am or something, people were tired already but still wanted to enjoy the show. You feel used after a few days of extreme festival

@@axesalaries wrong. i was AT THIS FESTIVAL back in ‘09. europe simply doesn’t do it like america does; the mosh pits were either straight up walls of death or non-existent. despite any cultural differences you have to understand GWAR played this as one of the last handful of headlining bands during a festival spanning 5 days. people were burned out as fuck by the time they took the stage

just the lights for a huge stage like that is very expensive. the costumes are worth thousands.
