In October 2019, Gwen, a 51 year old mother of three, suffered a life threatening brain injury. Unfortunately, her condition did not improve. But fortunately for others, Gwen was an organ and tissue donor. Through a partnership between Tri-City Medical Center, Donate Life, and Lifesharing, Gwen was able to save the lives of five others and change the lives of countless others. This is her story...

My brother is, and he tried to make me say yes..... So I went online and signed the opt out. I give blood. That's how I save lives! If my local hospital, ( that I live near,) did an honour walk for him, I wouldn't join in. In fact, not only would never go back to that hospital, I would even consider moving house, as I can see my local hospital from my bedroom window. With me, it's my blood, or it's nothing. : ]

I wish they had them in 2001 when my precious nephew became a organ donor bc of a tragic bike accident. He was just 8 years old and this is so beautiful. My precious nephew, Joshua would have said yes to being a donor. His heart was so sweet and pure. He saved 7 kids and that gives me comfort. God Bless all that give the world one last gift 🎁. I love you Joshua. You will always be my hero ❤

I think it's so important that the people and their families who released their organs are honored. It is by no means a matter of course. My family was in a situation where we had to make choices for our loved one. Nobody should have to make this decision, hence my request to everyone out there !! Register as an organ donor. Help other people with it! There is nothing worse than man, woman, mother, father, daughter, son, deciding whether to turn off the machines that keep the loved one alive.🥺 Thanks to all people💕🙏

In 51 and a donor too and my children and grandchildren know my wishes to help anyone who needs a part of me. I believe that everyone can help in this way. Why not help others when our soul is no longer in our body that God gave us to live in for a time, whether long life or short, there are so many that can benefit from what we no longer need to survive. I hope that when my time comes that they take eyes, heart, lungs , skin, liver, and every part that's available and then ID like to be cremated so that my family can put a little part of me in keepsakes because my soul will live on. I fully believe in organ donation..

I'm so sickly I doubt I would be able to help someone, anyone in my time of passing. But I've been a donor for as many years as I can remember. Knowing your loved one lives on, in more than one way or recipient, must have a whole new definition of Pride that has to be felt with so much greatness. Thank you all for sharing this touching tribute for Gwen. May her memories be cherished and warm your hearts on the days ahead. God bless this facility as well. 🕊💖🕊

I watched your video with tears running down my face. I, too, lost my mother at probably the same age as you girls did. My mother was only 49 so she was young like yours. And like your mother, mine also died of a brain injury, an aneurysm in her brain stem. When it happened, there was virtually no hope for recovery and like your mother, she also had 3 kids who adored her. We had to make the decision to take her off life support, probably just like you. It wasn't easy. I feel and know the pain you're in. I send you my deepest sympathy and love. I wish I had something to say to ease the pain but words are so inadequate. When I lost my mother, people would tell me how to grieve and for how long. Don't listen to that advice. Only you know how to grieve; it's a personal thing. Take all the time you need and take one day at a time. My mother has been gone for years now but I still miss her so much and yes, I still grieve for her. Allow yourselves to miss and love your mother always. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. ❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you Gwen. My Grandfather passed away when i was 13, and was an organ donor, his eyes helped a man see. Shortly after he passed, I found this poem. It really hit hard because he passed away in May. It was Sonnets 18 by William Shakespeare. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou Art more lovely and more temperate: rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, and Summers lease has all too short a date; sometimes too hot the eye of Heaven shines, and often his gold complexion dimm'd; and every fair from Fair sometime declines, by chance or Nature's changing course on untrimm'd; but thy eternal Summer shall not fade nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st; Nor shalle death brag that wander'st in his shade, when internal lines to time they'll grow'st: so long as men can breathe or eyes can see, so long lives this, and gives life to thee...

I am a registered organ donor and have talked to my husband about this. He says he could never let doctors take my organs and that he will not allow it. I hope that if one day I could save lives my family will honor my wish.

I know that I didn't even know you, but thank you Gwen and her family. It's through a tragedy that I have gained a new family, a mother who I have never met met died, but it was through a couple of friends of mine on Facebook, one just happened to be her brother in law who I went to the funeral for support for him and his family, but threw her passing, she saved 5 different lives through being an organ donor, but also she brought so many new people in our lives, and yes I consider everyone of them my family.

Organ Donation saved my sister's life. She has just welcomed her first great grandchild. This could not have happened without the dear lady who signed the donation register and her amazing family who honoured her wishes.

I'm so sorry for your loss...Do you know it was promised by God in the bible that you will see your brother again here on earth, "the hour is coming in which all those on the memorial tombs will hear Jesus voice and come out." John 5:28,29. And God will "wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor pain be anymore." (Revelation 21:4) Please hang in there, and I'm so sorry for your loss 😢

Thank you to these families for their selfishness acts of organ donation. I didnt know till my 5 month son passed away at home how vital it was to donate. An when you get told you cant because they at 2 weeks away from 6 months an they weren't in a hospital setting it really devastated me..
