This. Don't Speak took No Doubt to superstardom and was a smash hit but Just A Girl put them on the map and everyone's radar first. Feels like that gets forgotten. Her solo career also opened her up to a ton of new and different fans/listeners as well. It's crazy the longevity she's had and still has hits in new genres to this day when like you said so many of her contemporaries from the 90's were either one or done or have vanished almost completely by now.

For a while it was natural. She has help now. Edit: most women her age who were and still are in the spotlight spend a lot of money to make it look as if they haven’t aged and it has the opposite effect sometimes. That said, I think people are starting to believe that it is a natural look because so many celebrities have it that overdone “look”. Her forehead hasn’t made a move since she started talking.

@@fatbackfunk yeah as you can see I was definitely being cruel as hell and definitely wasn’t talking about the tough pressures women in pop culture or Hollywood face to stay relevant and employable by taking drastic measures to maintain their looks and a youthful appearance despite the natural progression of aging. There is a double standard where women seem to lose value and employability as they age based on their appearance and men don’t have that same standard (and in some cases it becomes more appealing). If you’d like to learn more I’d suggest looking up what Courtney Cox has said about her plastic surgeries and why she felt she needed to get work done as well as what Charlize Theron has said about women in Hollywood becoming undesirable, undervalued, and less employable after a certain age. Many females actors have talked about how difficult it becomes both from a personal perspective and a professional one. Yeah I’m the bad guy.

Every thing that might have been done can be done with injections from botox and fillers even a chin lift doesn't need surgery. The nose job was over 15 yrs ago. @@neptunemike Spiderwebs was the 2nd single, JAG the first, Don't Speak the 3rd. But Spiderwebs also started rising after Don't Speak's release. It's kinda funny, don't speak wasn't even considered a single initially. There's this radio interview from 1995 where Gwen talks about how they're not sure what single to put out next, and she names the songs from the album that they were considering at the time. Don't Speak wasn't one of them. They had already been performing it for quite some time and thought it was the more 'sleepy' part of their setlist, bc the rest is much more high-energy. Very unexpected hit.
