Join me as I break the skin on this GX470 and take it on roads it was designed to drive on. On this trip we ventured to Big Bear California for a weekend and camping and relaxing. I’ve never taken this car off road and before I make any major upgrades to it, I wanted to see how capable the STOCK gx470 is. I used to own a 3rd gen 4runner but decided to change platforms as the GX470 fit outdoor adventure needs. Stay tuned to see what areas we explore with this amazing truck.

I took my stock 04 GX to Ruby's fall trails in Alberta, CA. 4 Low and no center diff all the way. Bent my running board but everything else is fine.

Guess it's time for new rock sliders. The first cut is the deepest so you're ready to upgrade. Impressive that you didn't even need center diff lock. This car is so capable!

Silver is one of my favorite colors on the truck! Welcome to the club. My yakima roof top tent is one of my favorite additions to the car and it has been great. Going to do a review on it soon so definitely check it out. I think it's one of the best budget roof top tents backed by a major brand.

Nice grab! Having it with KDSS is definitely a rare option. Did you also get a sports edition version? Although KDSS was an add-on option, not many buyers at the time went with it.

Keep asking myself why buy a new 4runner when you could get a GX? Looks great. Where did you look for it?

It's a solid car and feels so much more comfortable than a new 4runner. IF you are going to rip out all the stock parts on a 4runner anyways, why not just do it on the gx470 for 1/4 of the cost? Expand your search at used car dealerships, craiglists, offer up, facebook market place. These cars are hot right now so jump on them if you see a good deal.

You upgraded the tire size u failed to say that...thats the fj cruisers size. I too plan to go to 70 AR

I decided to go with LT265/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks AT3W which measures to a 32" tire as they cleared stock suspension without lift or major body chops. This is the same size that FJ cruisers run as well as the newer 4runner TRD Pros. Lift kit is definitely in the near future. Stay tuned!

Ha you caught the easter egg in the video. I saw a fellow GX on the road and had to record it. That Green is only offered in 08-09 models and is personally one of my favorite color options.

@@GXOFFROAD i like the greyer green which i think is 03to07 ...called cyprus pearl (my fav colour gx) .yourr sure that is the oem green for 08/09?? Its so rare, hardly any info or examples on internet

2005 gx470 SPORTS PACKAGE! Be sure to check out my sports package video. I'm running upgraded Falken Wild Peaks At3w 265/70/17! Fits stock suspension with no trimming or rubbing.

@@GXOFFROAD lol no one building an overland rig on a $8-12k truck during the pandemic is poor. I was simply referring to this already existing, with almost the same name, another Asian dude, and the proliferation of people jumping on the gx470 bandwagon over the last 6 month and making channels on youtube
