Ku-ngo Gyalo Thondup was the architect of the revanchist policy of Bhot Cholkhasum. The concept of uniting the ethnic Tibetan areas into a political entity after the events of 1959, surely was then and still is a lofty ideal worthy of acclamation. But what were the chances of realizing this grand design then during the height of the Cold War, and now when China is flexing its new found power all over the world? Without a cataclysmic event or events engulfing the PRC, similar to the collapse of the Ottoman Empire or the Soviet Union, it is building castles in the sky to entertain irredentist sentiments of a Tibetan nation-state incorporating all Bhotpas. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
