Perfectly said. This is not the easiest music to listen to, but if your patient, love some fantastically played, passionate and originally approached music and especially if your in the absolute right place at the right time, then you feel as if every song of theirs is a precious gift. Listening to this while walking in a rainstorm at night makes you feel like you've reached nirvana.

Even the comments section is full of positive, warm, and thumbs-ups comments. A rare sight on the internet. I guess Godspeed's music brings out the best in people.

I myself, being a strange case of human, reacted to that song... a little bit different. For me, the ambience is my own world, where I'm alone. The screaming person, that's constantly talking, is the reality. It's more or less understandable for me. I think I'll come back to this song really often.

i'll listen to this instrumental in its entirety just to savor these last few minutes, anticipation climbing to a degree where when the moment delivers it's nearly a sentimentality collapse. what i mean to say is.... this is wonderful.

I learned about GYBE earlier today and this is my first time listening through any of their music. I have a background in progressive rock with bands like Porcupine Tree, so the sheer length of this piece didnt phase me at all. After listening through I have to ask what have i just witnessed. I cant remember any specific piece of the song, but I know it has moved me more then anything ive heard recently. I need to go find a copy of this album... now, Hitting up a cd shop after finishing this.

This song is so powerful, it reminds me that there is powerful energy all around us, that we dont even pay attention to. Even less now than every before.. its inside of us, we channel it, and yet it seems as though it will take eons before people wake up to their potential... we must ascend!

@noremotevideos1 I went to see them last December in London. You'll love it. Try to pick yourself up a vinyl if you can!

You all may be a bit young to remember the Butthole Surfers, but they evoked a sense of tragedy often when they played; it was quite cathartic. They had a piece called, "Strangers Die Everyday" that had this panicked-sounding distorted voice like a disaster response team on a radio. Very tear-inducing.

this whole album is THE SHIT. IT RULES! If few people like it then good, as few people have any taste in music or indeed in anything else.

If you dont like deep,meaningful music then stay far away from godspeed you! black emporer, stay far away from the orchestral brilliance,melancholy melodies,smooth interludes,and ambient sections...

I'm absolutely certain a few members of GYBE were probably told they sucked by an insensitive listener when they were young and at the level of an after school class and look what happened to them.

I think sonic youth was a big influence on many post rock bands.
@mogwai14214 жыл бұрын
They sure were, Sonic Youth is still considered Post-Rock even though they formed in the 80's. If Neil Young is the Godfather of grunge, Sonic Youth is the godfather of post-rock (whatever that means...) ;)

Sounds like Providence by Sonic Youth imo.

To counter your cynicism: I would venture to say 85-90% of bands "suck" (are of lesser quality) when compared to Godspeed You! Black Emperor, as GY!BE is that good. So if you simply meant that Jesu "sucks," don't compare the band to Godspeed, as Godspeed is infinitely better than the majority of bands out there, making it hard to discern whether you mean the band Jesu really sucks, or whether you mean that Jesu just pales in comparison to the greatness that is Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
