►I can only use the title Pokemon in battle. No switching at all, HM Pokemon are required.
►No use of items in battle. Potions, TMs, etc. are allowed outside of battle.
►No use of skips/exploits. This includes the Pokedoll Marowak skip. Badge boost is unavoidable.
►The TMs for Double Team and Toxic are banned. Pokemon that learn similar moves naturally are allowed to use it but not the TM.
►I play on x3 speed and use the in-game time for the run along with resets to rank these runs.

Yea, I tried a lot but it just wasn't meant to be. I thought this would be more of a slog but it turned out nice when I got it down. The 10 seconds at the end still would have left it short of top 3 and someone asked me to redo it but if I start looking for 10 second time losses and redoing runs based off that, then what are we even doing here lol.

Oh yea. You never really see it done to it's full potential. I think there's some Sanqui or similar type runs that exist with bog standard tackle learnsets but they are invalid without crush grip.

Pretty much what I expected lol, gigas is such a ridiculous stat stick without slow start. Base 100 crush grip is a reasonable trade off since that’s what that made it in legends arceus and you end up with just slightly worse return but I wonder if any of the damage ranges would have been affected that much by having it be base 120/121. The joke is that it either does 100% damage or it doesn’t.

There’s some spots it would be a little better but you are so limited on using it it wouldn’t have made much of a difference. 120 just seemed too much and while the run is good, I think 100 base power made it feel more Gen 1.

No surprise that Regigigas crushed it, however I didn't anticipate it passing Mewtwo, so excellent job Regigigas, also seeing this makes you wonder how well Regigigas would do in modern Pokemon games if not for that crippling ability it has. Someone at GF must hate Regigigas for them to give it such a bad ability. All in all that was a fun and interesting watch, especially HikerAnthony lol and Real One.

He's 5/5 for the ones that passed Mewtwo. I'm not sure how many more really can but it's interesting to see. I think of it this way, if a Pokemon can't then it just makes the ones that do more special so I never mind something being short. I did like bringing back the Hiker finally lol. Now watch, I'll forget and he'll be in a normal run because I used my normal pokered for this one lol.

I've seen someone theorize that it was because it required a gen 3 game to get the Regis to transfer over in order to get Regigigas. So it was made bad in order to not have people feel left out.

It’s an experience you’ll never understand until you play the games at high speed. The walls are sort of bumpers at high speed and you plan movement a lot but hitting a certain spot lol.

Regigigas more like Regi-awesome 😮😆 with no slow start which proved to be really effective against good old Kanto. With a decent ice move and a strong stab right from the start, nothing was a problem for it, especially when there aren't fighting moves.😂😂 More then anything,what proves to be effective is managing your pp right ,skiping certain items ,and know when to use candies. This run was done in such an efficient manner,while showing these incredible tips. I really like the thumbnail today because Regigigas is just ready to crush Kanto.😊 Hiker Anthony filling for Bruno in gen 1 is probably why he doesn't show up in Emerald that much climbing mount Chimney.😂😂😂 But getting used to gen 3 could take a while because of the abilities and natures ,and try to figure out how to play around them. So be patient with yourself,and more of all have fun with it😊.

You always leave the nicest and well thought out comments and I have to say I really appreciate it. I don’t know if anyone has ever said this but I see you on virtually every solo run video giving well thought out analysis regardless of status or views and the support and passion you show in the community is great to see. It’s a big reason I make a point to watch your videos and not just leave a generic comment. I want to watch it all, leave some details and what not because I know it feels good when someone actually engages and I guess I’m trying to say it’s cool. 2 things: 1. If you thought Regigigas was awesome wait for Regisausage. I couldn’t resist that. 2. I was on my way to learning/having a functional overlay for Emerald but gamehook sucks right now. Im a quiet guy and I had to air my grievances out last week. The pursuit of trying to run every game in the same overlay is making me not enjoy it lol. It broke Emerald is what I’m trying to say.

It sucks to work hard on a video and not get any kind of feedback or views,so I try to do that for everyone as much as I can 😅,if it helps everyone with the algorithm,then I'm glad it did helped. I love pokemon gaming content in general,so the more there are creators of this the more I enjoy it as a viewer, and as a creator I love to learn more things that I can optimize in my videos ,so in some way I want to give them and community something in return for all of this work. Regisusage is the best!Sausage is going to enjoy that !🤣🤣🤣 Sausage is going to be the first one that is going to be effected by disobedience, I wonder how that would go.🤔 Emerald and Firered are odd because of that anti cheating method, which is why I don't really want to do runs in gen 3 or gen 4. In general these game are slower for me at least. Yeah, and gamehook is onter can of worms, especially with setting the IVs ,and the filckering it causes to overlay's data. In that kind of situation, I would have never had the guts to get back and try again, I would have asked for help or completely take a break and try to find some kind of way by talking to onter people in the community who did that. I wish that this was common knowledge,so that everyone could do that without having too many issues.😅

Just calling it like it is! Comments are cool but there’s 10 ‘for the algorithm’ or off topic one liners for every 1 actual piece of conversation so it’s cool and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Yea I made a post in the discord about it. I hate that it turned into more questions about custom mappers because that had nothing to do with it but it is what it is. I’m scared to turn Emerald back on because I know it isn’t going to load and I’ll have to spend the equivalent of like 4 full Gen 1 runs fixing it lmao. It isn’t too bad, all things considered. If you ever need any help let me know because the help I get sometimes is like talking to a coder but I don’t have the mindset and I talk like a person lmao. If that makes sense. I’m ready for a Regisausage custom rom now.

@@GymLeaderMatt1987 Hey, at least you tried to reach out, that's something. To not expect stuff to be solved on their own while doing everything in coding is the right way. Sometimes even if you follow step by step a tutorial online or try to do what the coder did,and you end up with a code that doesn't work. Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks that coders sometimes do not speak human 😂😂😂. Maybe the way that Emerald is encrypts the data while in battle is what kind of makes gamehook go haywire. Or finding that indicators for some data like moves and stats can be tricky. 🤔 I'm not sure one of these are the cause for your overlay to crash. But ,hey coding is a guessing game anyways😅. Thanks for that. I will sure be needing that, because I want to create my own custom rom for yellow and crystal at some point in order to increase the difficulty for solo runs, so I'll probably need to know about mappers and coding at some point. For now, because I'm doing runs in legacy,as long as I don't have the exact code I can't really make an overlay for them.😊 What kind of sprite Regisusage will have? I don't mind thinking about it even more and make the sprite,so that you can run with it in red or in crystal,it would be the best😂😂😂.

I love these uber runs. Mom finishes a few loads of wash, maybe sweeps the floor, has breakfast, watches an episode of her favorite soap opera. Then her boy appears back home with a pokemon you've never heard of, has collected all the gym badges of the region, got himself a new bicycle, a hundred thousand yen, has beaten the elite four and become the pokemon champion, and he did so without losing a single battle or catching any other pokemon. It's hilarious. XD

Before watching just wanna say that I'm really excited about this one cause I made a run with regi as well and was able to finish the game with a time of 1:58 which was huge for me😀 so I'm excited to see what you did differently and how long you took 💪 edit: had a different starter movepool though. My regi started with Confuse ray dizzy punch thunder punch ice punch

People complain about Regigigas a lot, but honestly even if it had a permanent base 80 Attack and base 50 Speed I think it would still be kind of a monster. The real handicap is being in the Slow leveling group. 😂 Anyways, thanks for the video!

Archeops could be cool but it’s a double edged sword to invest the time into Pokémon that aren’t pseudos or legendaries. They just don’t return enough value on a small channel sadly but I have looked into it!

Believe it or not, no. Gen 1 Mewtwo is the strongest anything has ever been in its own generation. It never learns Psychic at level 1 again.

You know it might be time to offer some physical juggernauts to try and vie the position of top away. Too long has Special Attackers had it too easy. To this end I went and I looked up the Pokemon with the highest Attack stat in the game barring Mega Evolutions, and it's Kartana. Cool excellent I love Kartana and Celesteela a lot and 181 Attack is a big number and then I looked and saw it doesn't actually learn any STAB by level-up, or Earthquake, and suddenly felt quite sad. (You do get Sacred Sword and Air Cutter though). Regigigas looked really fun though. It really is a great Pokemon once that awful ability is gone.

For all intents and purposes shadow Lugia was a physical attacker that sprinkled in some special moves. Shadow Blast was the key! Not traditionally a physical attacker but a physical attack propelled that run.

Serious question when smithplays completes his rom for yellow are you going to do solo Challenges on it He made types like bug ghost actually usable In addition ghost is special now plus hypno n jynx can receive ghost coverage by level up Hms like cut (its bug razor leaf) n strength are actually ok options for moveset use Bug n ghost actually hit psychic types Super effectively as intended Pokémon like rhyhorn receive STAB by level up Nerfs happened like dig n blizzard n sleep n freeze status (theyre still really good but not horribly broken) Buffs with razor wind, cut, and solarbeam sky attack n tri attack

Nah. Like Crystal Legacy it’s just not designed for solo play. Like you could play as pikachu or catch an early Pokémon but it wouldn’t translate and the challenges are not balanced around a single mon. If he did Red/Blue you’d at least have 3 potential solo runs but the big thing glossed over in yellow is being forced to use a certain starter that sucks. People only look at yellow different these days because the randomizer offsets that and you can’t randomize a custom rom.

That depends if abilities were hacked INTO GEN 1 that Slow start makes it pure CRAP WITHOUT it its kind of going to be over powered.

I'm gonna be honest, I hate how every single solo run or just challenge run in general seems to be obsessed with how fast it can be done, and adding all these extra superfluous rules and handicaps. I hate nuzlockes especially, I don't find them entertaining in the slightest. The theme of the run alone would be challenge enough for me. If I'm gonna do a challenge run, like a solo run in the vein of this one, I at least want to have fun while doing it. And all these extra conditions and things you keep talking about to "optimize" the run just sound so soulless and hollow, there's no fun to be had there in my eyes. You complained in your Groudon video about other players like jrose faking excitement and acting like they don't know what's gonna happen in a given battle, but I'd say that adds to the entertainment value of the video, as opposed to your borderline clinical descriptions of your actions and decisions in the run, while also sounding kinda smug about taking something that should be fun and exciting and making it boring and monotonous. Great video anyways, better than I could've done, and sorry for the rant but I needed to get it off my chest. At least now I know for sure it's possible to beat Pokémon Red with only Regigigas.

Fair enough but I see myself as a speedrunner and base the runs off the any % record. It’s really fun for me! Just seeing the numbers and the data, that’s what keeps me invested. Casual play is perfectly fine, but not what I find the most enjoyable.

@@GymLeaderMatt1987 And speedrunning is fine, I don't mind a speedrun every once in awhile. I just don't come into videos like these specifically for speedruns, but for some reason that's all anyone seems to be doing. If I could be doing cross-gen runs or swap the starters in a given game with another Pokémon and experience this stuff first hand it would be one thing, but I don't have a PC to do any kind of emulation or use the UPR, so I'm stuck seeing it secondhand. It's just frustrating to have an idea in your head and not see it actualized, you know?

Well the idea I try to get across with the title is a good representation of how it would stack against Mewtwo and if it would be overpowered and how power creep would affect things. All you can do is your own vision and the moment you try to cater to a thousand different takes is when it becomes impossible and makes you lose the passion.

@@GymLeaderMatt1987 And by no means am I saying you need to cater to different people, I'm just lamenting the lack of variety in challenge runs. It's always speedruns or nuzlockes with the same rules, and maybe one or two switch ups here and there, and it's so boring.
