I am so proud of this family. They all worked and sacrificed together to help Gabby live her dream. Mom, celebrate like you completed those routines with her. Your love and unwavering devotion is what made it all possible -3. I hope that more mothers are inspired by you and push their children to live their dreams too. Team Gabby!

Wow....I got tears in my eyes watching and listening to this. I have 5 children. One of my children has has excelled beyond average at basketball and it's mind boggling. Looking back at the struggles that my husband and I have had to nurture and develop this talent/skill, I realize that it wasn't easy. At times it seemed that we just couldn't put any more money out but we gave our last dime and I must say it was/is so worth it. I hope every parent watches this and takes heed.

i'm going to grow up and be just like gabby and one day go to the olympics and no one would stop me from doing the thing i love GYMNASTICS. i thought it was very rude of the people to talk abut her pony tail like really and plus not all people have long hair so don't judge them about it and it doesint matter if ur black, white, mixed, spanish or anything u should be able to do what you want and follow your dreams my dream is to be a gymnast just like gabby douglas so thanks gabby your the best

It would be tough to let my girl go 2000 miles away for training. On the other hand, most of us wish we could have had the opportunity to fulfill our life's dream. Gabrielle Douglas has managed that and so the story has a happy middle not an ending yet. This about a young women becoming an Olympic Champion, her families support and nothing else.

I think the family who took her in should also be thanked, they too were instrumental in bringing about her victory. They too are also her family. According to her mom in another interview this proves that family doesn't necessarily have to do with colour or blood relation but those who truly love you. By the way I'm black.

I love this American need for a sob story, but in case there is none, you'll make sure to make up one. You won't get it when it comes to gymnastics,it's a sport that takes A LOT of money and time and the fact that Gabby made it to the Olympic level shows just how privileged and lucky she was. If you want from rags to gold medal story, you'll get it from Russia or Romania, where gymnastics are still state funded, so it's possible for poor kids from the middle of nowhere to reach the stars.

Her mom used a lot of people along the the way to get Gabby to the point. That family was basically poor. Would be nice now that she has won to at least thanks all those who helped out. That mom has not done that.

She is not racist. If she were, would you think she would send her child to IOWA of all places? Secondly, black people can be proud of their heritage and that doesn't mean they hate white people. Jews, Mexicans, Italians and others are proud of where they come from but you are not offended. She wasn't thinking about color, she was thinking about the OLYMPICS!
