This Gyome, Master Chef deck tech is a deck that I’d been building for quite some time, as a tribute to two of my friends’ mother, who passed away a little over a year ago. I think she considered me a bad influence on her sons, but I hope she eventually realized that I’m just a good-hearted idiot. Almost harmless, really. Anyhow, this is my humble way of remembering her. I don’t know if there’s a Heaven, but if there is she’s most certainly there.
As for the deck itself, it is a deck that focuses on drawing into, casting, recurring and reanimating nontoken creatures in order to populate our board and generate food tokens. We can then let our “hungry guests” eat those food tokens in order to power up and swing in for lethal damage. If you’re a fan of inexpensive, focused, battlecruiser decks that like turning sideways, with a dash of sacrifice thrown in, this deck is for you.
As a side note, I forgot to add background music to this video. Sorry!

I would highly recommend Marionette Master for this deck, especially since you went the counter route. Have her enter with 3 +1/+1 counters, and watch your opponent's life drop every time you sac a food token. I run it in my food deck and it is super good. I also recommend Inspiring Statuary to reduce mana cost of spells by tapping all your food for mana. Also, sorry to hear about your friend's mom :(

I really do like the visual aesthetic of Keskit playing with his food in his vain attempt at perfection! I also think that Culling Ritual would be worth considering for this deck

I really like that suggestion. Culling Ritual could be an explosive ramp spell in this deck, if you've got something to channel it into. Nice one!

This was a really sweet build not just the synergy but the story behind building it.

I think this is a wonderful tribute, and an arguably even better deck tech. Can't wait to try this out

also, would you recommend throwing the ozolith in here?

@@nickatwork I considered that card briefly. The fact of the matter is that I aim for budget, and the Ozolith costs around $10, last time I checked, and I can only fit so many of those cards in. It's a great redundancy for Death's Presence (it's better than Death's Presence, but you know what I mean). If you've already got one, this would be a decent home. I think the Ozolith is even better in decks that utilize all kinds of counters. I'd love to do a 5 color level counters deck with it, and with that thought in mind, I wish there was a legendary creature that does what the Ozolith does!

As I mentioned in another channel, you can use Aluren + Cloudstone Curio + any 3 MV or less non-artifact creature with Gyome out and you should get an "all-you-can-eat" buffet.
@UncommonCommander
@UncommonCommander 3 жыл бұрын
This is a cool tech! Unfortunately, Aluren would double the cost of the deck, but if you've got one, you should run it. I would! Thanks for the comment!
@architectofdreams73
@architectofdreams73 3 жыл бұрын
@@UncommonCommander oh. Well I play online on MTGO where Aluren is very cheap, but point taken. If you are building in paper form, this wouldn't be very cost effective.

@@UncommonCommander I knew what you meant. :) Just forgot that this was meant for paper versions. I just forgot about that and just named a combo I thought would be cool without even thinking about the cost since I already have this card in digital form. Sorry for the confusion. Thank you for the compliment as well. Good deck tech as well!!
