RE: PAUSING, EXPRESSIONS & AIR-INSTRUMENTS:
Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. What a treat K. Brewski. Thanks for reintroducing this great band to the channel. So much goodness. They came from that period where the boundaries were so open that musicians could so easily crossover and express their ideas. Great Request. Nice to see Eyes of Silver from the Doobies at the end to round it out. I was working as a cook/dishwasher in a bbq joint in Texas when I heard this on the AM radio. Has always been a favorite. 👍👍

Someone is reacting to Gypsy? I'm shocked. I've been trying to get JustJP to react to this album for over a year now. How can you not love "Gypsy Rock" : )

I am SO EXCITED to see you doing this marathon! I have NEVER seen anyone react to Gypsy, nor have I ever seen anyone request a reaction to them! Fabulous band, that I didn't discover back when they came out. In fact I only discovered them in 2020, completely "by accident", when I was IN THE HOSPITAL for a week, and I had prayed for some music to lighten my soul that I could play on the laptop I was GIVEN as a gift, only 10 days prior to ending up in the hospital. The song "Gypsy Queen" was the first song I heard, and I was completely charmed and became an instant fan! I've listened to them a lot since then, and they always make me feel better, at least for a while! OK, now I will watch your reaction!!!! 👏🎬

This is "camping by the lake" music, if I've ever heard it!!! So chill, and so.....I don't know how to describe it, why it makes me think of Nature at it's most beautiful! Thanks so much to Kevin, and to you, Nick, for doing this! Lovely Saturday Marathon! I hope you don't get blocked!!

Just a few more comments, because, why not.... I also loved almost everything you had to say in this vid, not just about the music. I absolutely agree with you 100% about Don Henley/Eagles. 😒 I ended up in tears during "Dead and Gone"! Kinda had an emotional flashback there for a bit! WHEW! IMO, this is one of your best reactions!❤👍

@@kbrewski1 And thank YOU, again, for suggesting a Gypsy Marathon! I really am not sure why I was not aware of them when this album came out, except I was about to marry a soldier and be "kinda out of it" musically, for about 1.5 years. But, also, I grew up in the Middle-of-Nowhere, TX, so.....I dunno. I'm just so glad I found them when I did! I LOVE hearing the various musical influences Gypsy showed! It's a special band that can do that, yet still be unique! What a freaking time for music, huh?!

Gypsy!!! I spent hours in the basement of our home in the suburbs of Minneapolis pouring over this album, cover to cover, as I listened. My older brother had quite the album collection (CSNY, CCR, Led Zepplin, Uriah Heep, James Gang, Grand Funk Railroad, and on, and on.) I'd head downstairs whenever he was out to listen to my favorites and his latest acquisitions. I loved Gypsy Queen on first hearing but haven't listened to it in decades. Thanks for an amazing memory!

Nick I could not believe it when I saw you were doing a Gypsy reaction! Gypsy has been huge here in St. Louis since the early 70's primarily due to radio station KSHE playing them constantly. I have been fortunate to see them 27 times in concert and they always put on a great show. Back in the mid-70's that album went out of print and if you could find a used copy (which was almost impossible here in St. Louis) it was going for around $100. I got a new copy from a friend who found it in Columbia South Carolina in a record store. I hadn't opened it and a guy offered me $125 for it but I wouldn't sell it. That's when albums cost $3.99. Gypsy has so many great songs so I hope you go down the rabbit hole. Thanks again!!

Gypsy on the internet is rare. I first heard Gypsy when I saw them open for the Guess Who back in 1971. Gypsy was promoting their 2nd LP "In The Garden" which is excellent! A highly underrated band that nobody knows about. You will love it. They only put out 4 original albums during the early 70s and then later on the keyboard player put out another in 2015.

@@kbrewski1 I was a junior in high school and a huge Guess Who fan so I went to their show here in Mobile, AL. The opening act was Gypsy had never heard of them before. I do remember the tight vocals and the grinding Hammond B3. I remember 2 tracks in particular, one called Around You and absolutely loved it. then they introduced a another new song called Garbage Man. I don't remember much about the song, but the title was not one to forget. My buddy taped the Guess Who show, but not the Gypsy part. Too bad. However, over the years I began to collect live recordings of band through my own recordings, snail-mail tape trades and eventually the internet. I met a guy online, Dave Mueller, who was a huge Gypsy fan. So much so that he is much revered in St Louis and has an absolutely astonishing collection of Gypsy memorabilia and other goodies. We swapped stories and he sent me several live recordings of Gypsy from back in the day, but stipulated I was not to share any of them as most were from one of the Gypsy members (I can't remember whether it was Bill Lordan the drummer or not). One of the tracks on a live recording was Garbage Man! I have the hour-long Gypsy set from Superjam '77, but there is a song here on YT from that performance, Blind Man.

Gypsy was hugely popular in St. Louis in the mid to late seventies. They appeared at Superjam concert in 1977 I think. KSHE 95 6:48 used to do "The Seventh Day" every Sunday, and when Gypsy was played, a lot of people planned their day around it. "Dead and Gone" is GREAT! Thanks to kbrewski for this.

Great selection - as Gypsy fans know, this is a mini-playlist from their 1970 debut album. Interested to see the vinyl album - the original release was on the Metromedia label, but this one must be from the brand new Sundazed label 2023 issue. All of the songs are wonderfully done - the group put a Santana style backbeat into this album's songs, probably adopted from living in the L.A. area.

Great set. Its so funny I recall seeing this album cover while flipping through the racks back in the day (I was an expert album flipper LOL) but I have never heard this. Unfortunately the sound was kind of tinny and I have no doubt that the original master tapes and vinyl sound awesome. Hopefully someone will remaster them for streaming and I wonder how the CD sounds. Great music especially the Dead and Gone suite. There are a number of KZfaqrs that I watch where they just sit and talk about their record collections and there is always something I haven’t heard, even in the genres that I favor. It’s amazing how much there is yet to hear when you think you’ve heard it all. That’s the value of this channel when someone else can bring something to the table that you haven’t heard for whatever reason. Great stuff.

On the Gypsy theme , may I suggest the title track from Carmen’s ‘ The Gypsies ‘ from 1975 . Both atmospheric and powerful . In live performance , the percussionist and backing vocalist/keyboard player , in full costume would do a highly percussive flamenco dance on stage . This track features a segment in the first instrumental break . Also , the late John Glascock went on to join Jethro Tull as their bass player , prior to his untimely death . You will love this track . Guaranteed 👍

I didn't know of this group, but I know of different song called "Gypsy Queen" which was on a 1971 Larry Coryell album "Barefoot Boy" with some great soprano sax by Steve Marcus. That one was a cover of an original 1966 song by Hungarian acoustic guitarist Gabor Szabo. Only the name is the same.
