Back in the day , when a person got snow tires on, it meant studded tires. If you live in a snow prone area and you have a wood or coal stove, ashes were one of your best friends in the winter.

Ashes to the rescue. Also good for putting on gardens all winter and later tilling it under to revitalize the soil a bit. Love that wind in the tree's sound, music to my ears among other things such as babbling brooks, birdsong and cat's purring... I bet your wood will last through February, but honestly, God only knows. Have a great week Jenna.

thanks for the update on your home stead. The car getting stuck. Build a car ramp . yep 3-5 inches above your driveway height out of barn wood slabs . 5-10 degree forward slope . Or buy a carport enclosure at 5 times the cost . but year round benefits. Buy an extendable painters pole , up to 16 feet . they use the same 3/4 threads as a paint roller handle, and also works on a shop push broom head, for clearing roof snow , etc. and or make a panel cover for your solar , yes pre cover it before the snow and remove it in the morning. ! Keep important life tasks simple and repeatable. systems make for a reliable , daily life . Think of the simple additional , one time tasks that make the morning burden , less so . Park your fire circle place chairs , up side down !!! so the bottom seat is always dry for your back side . Yes you are learning as you grow. Congrats on that . understood. consider , the mind set of training your future self , in simplicity. Not criticizing you... Break your patterns, to make your day easier. prevention , preparation and redundancy :) add a few siliconed quarters to the cat door to keep it closed .

Regarding the hum of the gas regulator. That's the membrane that vibrates at a high frequency due the gas flow. There is black screw on the side of the regulator, if you unscrew that, there is a big screw under for a flat bed screwdriver. This screw regulates the pressure, turning this screw 90° will stop the hum. If you turn this screw clockwise, you increase the gas pressure, counter clockwise will decrease the gas pressure. If there is another regulator between this outside regulator and your furnace and refrigerator, then the little difference(lower or higher) in gas pressure can't harm anything. Also, turning this screw just 90° doesn't change the pressure that much, but enough to stop the vibration of the membrane. If you unscrew the black screw while there is gas flow, the hum can temporary get louder and make a buzzing sound, untill the black screw is placed back in place. That's normal. No gas will come out when you unscrew this black screw, because this is above the membrane, the gas is on the other side of this membrane. Grtz

Great sense of humor, Jenna! As long as you keep your sense of humor, you can survive Old Man Winter. You did a wonderful job of keeping us entertained and even ol' Rickety got in on the comic relief. Wow! That wood pile is going down fast. I hope you get a mid-Winter thaw for at least a week so you can get some more firewood. Wouldn't it be nice to see the ground again? You made me think back to my time in Alaska and I am sorry to say, "I want no part of that again!" I remember those mid-Winter blues and thinking about a warm sandy beach and plenty of Sun. I just noticed you have over 18k subscribers! I knew you were famous. Notoriety comes at a hefty price though, don't turn into a "Gypsicle Jenna" or is that a "Jenna Gypsicle". As a southern boy down here on the gulf coast of Florida, my observation is as follows. I enjoy watching your videos showing the majesty of nature and winter. Personally, I was not built for high temperatures high humidity. I was built more for snow in the mountains. But the last time I was in Anchorage in the winter, it was 22 below zero and we had 17 feet of snow. I can relate.😊 This morning here it was a brisk 46°, 50% humidity. I had to put on a down vest.😂

Bike riding, fishing, going for walks, playing sports, swimming...well, who needs that! Back breaking shoveling, spending times on a slippery ladder, clearing roof is pure adventure! Ok, cold climates suck mainly, because the winter time in the northeast is too long! I think my back hurts from watching you shovel! Great video! -Miss the smile / frown face temp display!

You should be good until March with wood. It has been a mild winter this year in NH. I'm not complaining 🙂 If you are concerned you could grab pallets and use them to supplement your wood. Or look for fallen hardwood and cut off that. I've done all of that in a pinch.

About the same here, but may not get the snow. It's kind of iffy. Lot's of rain coming, they saying for now. Problem is the ground thawed out from the freeze, so it has turned into mush. I left two ruts fifteen feet long, a foot deep, with my 8 ply mud grips day before yesterday trying to get the groceries around here, but I didn't get stuck. I just got home from the truss company getting scraps of pine boards to burn. I've got a few big pieces of pecan tree trunk that I have to cut in half so I can split them. We're going to blade the driveway tomorrow with the tractor. It has turned into mush too. It dried out some today with the sun out. Lots of mud everywhere. I had to park out front until it all goes away and I can get back around here. So I'm carting wood and cans of food around here to the back, before the rain comes again. The new lithium batteries are doing great compared to last year. Voltage is 26.6 v. The wind generator has been keeping the lead acid ones charged pretty well, 12.73 v. I probably have enough wood 🔥 until March. It looked like your place here last week, but it's turned into Mudville. The struggle is real, lol. Be sure and keep your vitamins C up. I got a dozen oranges and some lemon juice at the store. Yeah, I'm ready for spring too. The rain is coming, then another one behind it coming in off the West coast, so uncle and I will just have to wait it out before driving in and out of here.

Ok girl, I used to live in western New York, right by Lake Ontario and had plenty of experience in my younger days with wind and snow, that is why when I retired out of the military bought a home in Tennessee, not so much of that white stuff falling from the sky. Enjoy your youth, cold doesn't play well with you when you get more seasoned in life. Now I still enjoy a good beer, but not outside in the winter, I'll wait for a nice hot sunny day, thank you kindly. Be watching for your next adventure going for a walk with your companion.

I live alone with my 4 dogs and 2 cats in a small, old aluminum mobile home that I built myself. The winters are hard and you have to survive and see how it stays warm in the hut 😂 .. I installed a diesel heater in addition to my oven and I finished it today. There were some complications and your videos kept me going because I started to doubt myself and I was alone in this. Thanks to you I got it finished today and it's working! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing your thing ❤️ .. so I don't have to feel alone because hardly anyone understands my way into the forest. Thanks for the snowball, it was 70 degrees Fahrenheit today in Central California (77 yesterday). We’re expecting rain for the next few days, so there goes the solar, but it beats snow! Stay warm and safe!

Even the slightest incline can get your car stuck. We park all the cars at the flatest part of the driveway or with a downward slant to ensure we can get out. Your wood shelter looks like you could get the car partially in? We also blanket our windshield. At super negative Temps, we add engine warmers and solar battery tenders fyi. Each year I add something new to my system. I like some of these other suggestions as well...

I forgot to mention, Have you considered starting a veggie garden in the spring? May have to clear some trees, it would also make your home safer from trees breaking in storms. just an ideal :)
