In The UK they would be known as a Double Act who bring out the best in each other. Larry Gates would have been brilliant on Emmerdale as a Distant Relative of The Sugdens or even as The Dingle Family. His Ancestors last name was changed to Ingel at Ellis Island. William Roerick would have been perfect on Hollyoaks as a Distant Relative of Tony Hutchinson.

A natural succesor to Ashley Pedlon, Kimberley J. Brown was truly the quintessential Marah. She set the tone of what this character should have been; instead, producers opted to go the blonde kittenish route when they SORASED the character. Marah was her father"s daughter, not a mini-Reva.
@canton7313 жыл бұрын
I AGREE WITH THIS COMMENT WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Kimberly McCullough (General Hospital) would have fallen more in line with what I would have envisioned Marah to be. I always thought of Marah as more of a Lewis. Daniel Cosgrove was perfect as adult "Lil' Billy."
@tonyatmidnight3 жыл бұрын
@@canton731 I always envisioned Marah as growing up so turned off by her mother's antics that she relied less on her sexual instincts and more on her intellectual prowess, proving herself an acute businesswoman worthy of taking helm of the Lewis empire someday; she could also be a little self-righteous and judgemental towards her mother like Joshua could be, blaming her mother for much of the family drama through the years. Reva and Marah should always have been oil and water. Marah had to assume adulthood rather early in her life, making her more sensible, more responsible, more cautious than her mother could ever be. Instead of being boring, this would have given Marah more potential for romantic conflict than she had just by being the generic "blonde ingenue" in a typical young adult pairing. Much like Kathleen Cullen's Amanda, Marah should have been a little insecure about her sexual identity, fearing she would be like her mother, which would have set up years of bad romantic choices one after the other. Shayne, meanwhile, would have been the complete opposite: he should have been his mother's son: wild, impulsive, a desire for more-more-more. I liked Daniel Cosgrove as Bill, but I would have loved to have seen Bryan Huffinton grow in the part, just as Rachel Minor and Greg Burke should have been been allowed to grow into the roles of young adults Michelle and Ben. If the PTB had just allowed to let that new generation of family players that had been carefully established in the late 80s to evolve organically into the 21st century, things would have been so much different for Guiding Light.
@canton7313 жыл бұрын
@@tonyatmidnight I liked Bryan Buffington as the younger version of Little Billy only. It was like David Tom at Y&R; David was great as the teenager Billy Abbott but did not work for me as the adult Billy Abbott. Maybe it's because there was another actor in the role of Billy Abbott for years. I loved the Billy/MacKenzie pairing back in the late 1990's and I was also in the eleventh-twelfth grade in those years so I loved their teenager angst stories at that time. When DT returned to Y&R I was initially excited but I soon realized he wasn't right for the role anymore. I did not like Matt Bomer as Ben Reade at all and I would have loved to have seen the younger actor who portrayed the younger version of Ben Reade potentially grow in to the adult version of Ben Reade, I would have given him the chance. Bryan Buffington only worked as Little Billy, for me, as the child version of the character. Your version of Marah is a fleshed out version of my vision of Marah as well and that was the basis in which the character was built on in the late eighties to early nineteen-nineties. Don't forget that Marah also felt abandoned by Reva Shayne as well during her girlhood years. Billy Miller would have been perfect for me as Shayne Lewis. I loved Tom Pelphrey as Jonathan Randall. Guiding Light had so much talent there it was ridiculous.

I didn't watch Guiding Light when Larry Gates was on The Show but what an amazing actor he was from these clips. The scene that made me fall in love with him was when Josh & Reva got married and Hampton "Hamp" Speakes arrived with some Friends and although they weren't "Invited" HB treated them like long lost friends. I thought "What an amazing Classy Guy, an Old School Southern Gentleman who was so charming". So much History. Probably The Last Time "All The Lewises" were together before Brian Buffington was let go as Bill Lewis #1, then Brian Gaskill played Dylan #2, then Morgan Englund working with Hart #5 which must have been surreal. I kind of felt bad for Hart knowing that Peter looked at Dylan as "Daddy" and not him, and then Vanessa lost any contact or communication with Peter after this. Wouldn't it be something if it were discovered that Trisha met A Woman and is now with her. Josh was so "Classy" as well introducing Blake as Ross's Wife although they were Divorced. If it were up to me Cece Winans would have sung. Her Brother Bebe went to Number One in the UK with A R & B Group called Eternal.

Something just felt off about this funeral. I don't think these writers knew how to write for the characters. It was great to see Trish, Wanda, fauxMindy, and Dylan. This is the beginning of them ruining Dinah in order to prop Cassie - one of my all-time least favorite characters in the show's history. Maeve Maguire was brilliant as always as Vanessa. And it was sure nice to see HB and Henry in the flashback. I think ATWT did much better with their tribute to Don McLaughlin, who played patriarch Chris Hughes. But that's just my opinion.
