The Wargo Signature Edge 540T 3D is yet another incredible airplane in the series inspired by the renowned 3D pilot Michael Wargo. The Edge 540T was specifically designed for very precise 3D flying and aerobatic training. Michael Wargo, our team pilot, and 3D expert, wanted a foam aircraft that was stiffer, and lighter than other foamies. This was achieved by the combination of a stiff, lightweight balsa frame covered with lightweight, crash-resistant PP foam.
The Wargo Edge 540T is perfect to take a pilot from general sport flying to confidently flying 3D aerobatics. It has a short moment arm (the distance between wing and tail) which makes it great for lively tumbling and extreme, spirited types of flying. Things such as hovering, waterfalls, harriers, knife-edge, rolling circles, and other extreme 3D aerobatics are made much easier than with ultra-light foamies. This is due to its ability to carry momentum through these high-energy maneuvers.

These planes are great and forgiving. They fly so slow and are great for anyone coming from a high wing plane, like the tundra for example.

What motor, battery size, and prop did you use in this build?

I just got mine in and it was well packaged. It looks so much better in person. And OMG it is way lighter than my twisted hobbies Reloaded 25. Although fedex banged the banged the box up a bit. I got the turnigy 2830 motor, corona 9g plastic servos, forgot to order props 😫. I have a question though… what CA do you recommend using for wing and stabilizer. It hit me that in the event of a crash how would I replace the wing if it is glued to the fuselage? Also will spare parts be available and when? I’d like to buy a few spares as it is a habit I keep with all models. Best regards K. Also I apologize again for my ignorance. That’s between you and I!!

Use thin CA for hinges

I use Foam Cure to glue surfaces... it's a strong bond but can still be removed if you need to swap out a part. If you use CA you can still cut out a part... carefully!

Switched to the same motor you got. We’re you able to find cg with that motor and 4s or did u add weight on the back

Nice plane, maybe the cowl can match the paint scheme of the plane instead of being black. This plane was made to be as light as possible so perhaps the cowl is too thin hence it braking, but then again for the benefit of the presenter he did not break it and it was just bad luck it was broken in transit. As for the wheel pants they look nice but we all know grass fields do a number on wheel pants on take of and landings I usually remove mine or do not place them at all.

@@HobbyKingOfficial no actually he doesn't explain anything, he fly's the plane. What happened to hobbyking? If I had to guess I would say you come under new management a few years back because you are like a different company now. You have cut all of your good products and to only ones that remain are stocked in China with extortionate shipping prices. I looked last night, I see an artf balsa plane for £270, of course only Chinese stock and shipping was an additional £280!!! I could go to my local store and buy a better quality plane from a company with better customer service for less than that. Wtf!!!

@@readiboardii3873 sadly not in the UK. In the past they had so many things I wanted to buy and I would order from hobby king at least once a week. Now whenever I look I honestly can't find a whole lot that I'm interested in and when I do it's only in the China warehouse or on backorder and the cost of shipping is outrageous. Just last week I see an artf cropduster for £270, it looked nice and I know someone who has a similar plane which is great fun to fly. Anyway I got to checkout and shipping was £280!!! For the total cost of £550 I could go and buy an extreme flight plane for that from a local store. For 1 flying 3d is what I really enjoy the most but also we all know full well the quality of the extreme flight plane is going to be far superior to that of a hobbyking plane. I could spend all day giving examples of why they are no longer worth using. The change happened pretty quickly so I can only guess that they were on the verge of bankruptcy or they had a change of ownership/management? Either way it hasn't been a good thing, not for me at least.

Put me off straight away after seeing the packaging or should I say the lack of packaging, and if you're unlucky enough to get a busted part good luck with the customer service you will need it. I don't know what's happened to HobbyKing but I used to spend hundreds with them, but unfortunately nowadays its cheeps crap that they're selling, such a shame at one point HobbyKing was the leader in the RC hobby and now they just at the bottom. However I do hope HobbyKing makes it come back one day and start stocking the more modern gear rather than the outdated stuff I was and would be again if very loyal customer.

@@readiboardii3873 Both it can't be high end as it came out of the box damaged, also didn't you see the jump shot at 8.40 when he had to take a knife to it because moulding was incorrect. I know it's only a cheap plane at £139 However if parts are damaged coming out of the box, then it's not going to be very strong, and I can see it shattering in a small crash. BUT I COULD BE WRONG

I completely agree, in the past I would spend ridiculous amounts of money with hobbyking, some things were always a bit crap but for the most part I was always very happy. It started declining a few years ago, they the range has greatly reduced which is fair enough but they seem to have dropped all the better things? I often look for new products on there but more often than not I come away feeling disappointed. Another thing they do is only have Chinese stock and the strange thing is that they must be the only company on the planet who can't ship from China at a decent rate. I wanted to buy a big balsa edge 540 some time ago, (I'm pretty sure they don't sell anything like that now) It worked out I could go to my local model shop and buy an extreme flight plane for just a tiny bit more money. Sad I really miss hobbyking Being my go to place

Sorry to inform you that HobbyKing’s reputation for customer service is garbage! So seeing the demonstration model damaged in transit is an issue. I noticed the wheel-pants never made it to the park, no surprise! They almost fell off in the studio as you displayed the finished product. There was zero mention of the CG and if weight was added to obtain the correct CG. This could be a suitable model for me to have, but I won’t be rushing to order one. I will wait to see what customers and independent reviews have to say about the Wargo Signature Edge.

Our customer service is actually outstanding and small issues like this are resolved quickly! I always take wheel pants off! No weight added for CG. The 3S 1300 Nano Tech I used balanced the plane perfectly.

@@robcaprio1498 I have made purchases from HobbyKing without ever needing to contact Customer service. Whenever HobbyKing is mentioned at the RC club, members are very forthcoming with warnings. Perhaps it is only the Australian branch that has a bad reputation. I would probably remove the wheel-pants to install slightly bigger wheels anyway, better for use on our grass strip.

The reason the elevator is not glued to the horizontal stabilizer is so that you put them in the slot separately. First the elevator, then the horizontal stabilizer; there is no need to cut a slot in the back of the tail if you do them in that order. $150 is way too much for this plane.

Too much time spent on duplication of the process, ie left then right! He never showed us how he routed the servo leads etc or where he placed the RX , ESC & Battery! I agree with some others, an Expert could fly anything similar.

I wonder what the funny music is always good for during the flight, I would rather hear the sound of the engine, I find it so annoying, and above all absolutely counterproductive.

Never should nave taken that cowl out of the bag. Looks like it's junk ! Best described as an unboxing fail. Should have saved this for the first of April!
