This is superb, the singing is just so moving in places - I got goose bumps and tears came to my eyes especially around 2hr 30mins

Some thrilling voices, especially the soprano and crisp playing by the orchestra. Thank you for posting. Another superb recording from the much missed Alan Curtis which I have purchased on listening to this. His Tolomeo is even more outstanding.

I was in Prof. Alan Curtis' "Bach and Handel" class at UC Berkeley in the late 80's. He had a harpsichord in classroom. He revived Handel's "Floridante" in a concert performance and handed out tickets to the class. I think I was one of 3 people who were still in audience at the end of 3 hours 😂🤣

Do you think you could tell what differences between Händel and Bach music Alan Curtis did explain in that lesson?...I wish I was there ...I Would have stayed for three hours or more too...

How interesting and sad too - Floridante is enjoyable (and I do admit to being fond of obscure works). Alan Curtis certainly had a great flair for Handel and I have purchased as many of his recordings as I can get my hands on. His Tolomeo, as one serious music magazine "Gramaphone" said in particular, is perfect. His recording company sometimes required him to have singers who were not perhaps his first choice, but that is no reflection on Mr Curtis.

@@avelinovazquezgroba4906 I recall Prof. Curtis lecutring about Vivaldi's influences on Bach, and we had to write a term paper on Handel's oratorio La Resurrezione. He was a fantastic harpsichord player, but his TA played it mostly in class. Another interesting Berkeley professor I had was Joseph Kerman teaching opera 101; he wrote a famous book "Opera as Drama". Richard Taruskin taught music 101 but I didn't take that class. I was a premed biology major :)

I love this version. I have the CD of a different version, performed in 2010 in Martina Franca (Ganassi, Fagioli, Fasolis conductor, Orchestra Internationale d’Italia), which is also very beautiful but omits Bertarido’s Aria ''Scacciata dal suo nido” in Act II.

ÉSTA ES UNA DE LAS MEJORES ÓPERAS DE hANDEL, SI TAL CONCEPT OES PISBLE, YA QUE LA MAYORÍA DE SUS ÓPERAS SON UNA DELICIA, PER OÉSTA EXCEDE A MUCHAAS, AUNQUE N OA TODAS... HAY OTRAS IGUAL DE PERFECTAS, COMO GIULIO CESARE , O ALCINA... si no conoces Alcina te conjuro encarecidamente que la explores
