Stuff like this demonstrates that Midjourney is not just a "collage machine." Simply mashing up Giger art with children's toys would not give you fully lit plastic sculptures that are neither Giger nor Fisher Price. It's creating something (mostly) totally new.
@TallicaMan1986
@TallicaMan1986 Жыл бұрын
It's mostly about how much information is available on the prompts you're requesting. There's a trillion kids toys and HR gigers art is pretty public. With the abundance of information it'll be hard to get repeats or things that already exist, but ifyiou narrow it down and start getting a bit more niche. Then yes. It very much becomes a collage machine of sorts and if you're knowledgeable enough in the art space. You may actually he able to point out where I got its ideas.

@@TallicaMan1986 I understand your point, but looks like you're minimizing the algorithms that make Midjourney work. If you use other AIs for generation (Stable Diffusion, etc) you'll most likely won't get this kind of "art" that Midjourney is achieving. In other cases, other AIs that I have tested, the resulting art look more like "Collage Machine" as @Krypt1970 said. So, for any AI, there are 2 fundamental things that are both crucial for the "type" of generated work: (1) the datasets and how it was trained on those datasets , and (2) the actual algorithms they use for generation. So here becomes obvious to imply that: "there aren't two equal AIs", each one is unique

Yes, at it´s best it can be the perfect simulation of artistic style or creativity - even without being creative at all. Both things are valid in the same moment. We humans are just not used to the ambivalence that the universe has prepared for us. We are very binary thinkers much too often.

I'm kinda fascinated by the idea that the AI may have actually determined that phallic and vaginal imagery would be inappropriate for children's toys, so it purposely left them out? I mean, this is H.R. Giger we're talking about here, after all. I know I could be reading too much into it, but I dunno. This shit is getting scary with how quickly the AI is outrunning us artistically.

I had Giger play toys, A ''Thing Maker'' and an ''Incredible Edibles'' maker. Thing maker made plastic rubbery bugs and spiders and funny faces, Incredible Edibles made gummy candies in the shapes of bugs and worms, also had the Strange Change Machine, plastic blocks when heated would pop up into dinosaurs and monsters, heat them back up and put them in the crusher to turn them back into plastic blocks. all these ''toys'' got Very Hot and if you weren't careful you could get blistering burns. Dangerous Heated Toys that make plastic and rubberized playthings and foods. HR Giger Toys indeed.

thinking of the crazy clash of concepts here, would you consider doing another one (though i'm not sure i could recommend which particular artist to blend in to it), but for all the breakfast cereals that were ostensibly made for "the kids"?...the extra sugary, unhealthy, artificially coloured ones, but with grim/bizarre packages and advertising campaigns, as well as strange toys inside the packs! i think the contrast of "innocent" with both blatant commercial manipulations, bright colours and looks and tastes that "JUST AREN'T RIGHT" would be fascinating. some absurd reference points would be "Sugar Lumps' from Ren and Stimpy, and the skit by The Goodies which had a box full of toy spacemen (to eat!), and One single Cornflake as the "gift", lol!

I dont understand why people think this is so amazing. It's what the human brain does creatively but with less creative effort than we need. We are discovering the basics of consciousness and creativity and replicating that in a computer program ... Which is amazing but nature has already done it.
