Wes & Tim : After watching a few years of your vids, I have to say I really admire your honesty when it comes to preparing any of your equipment back to as good or better condition than normal, when it comes time to trade in. Many people just get rid of their trade-ins, as is, & hope nobody notices the imperfections related to that piece of equipment, & pawn off their troubles onto the next guy. In many cases you don't try & take advantage of the next guy, because you feel this is how you roll, (do onto others as you hope they will do to you), plus it gives you the piece of mind, it's just the RIGHT THING TO DO. If everyone would follow that concept, what a much more wonderful world this would be. Thanks again for yet another fine illustration on how to be the person we all should try & emulate. And being an ex-farmer/dairyman, I really can relate & enjoy all of your vids.

Acme connectors, reminds me of Wyle E Coyote. Don't know when you did this but it was about 24 degrees here in the mtns of Virginia with a stiff breeze. No day to be working outside and the perfect day for the pressure regulator to decide to give up the ghost. So I called my fishing buddy up who drills wells and said "come and fix my well". He replied " Come over and feel my ass and realize how cold it is". And he wasn't getting out in this weather, and that I knew how to replace it as well as he did. So I did. From watching your videos you guys seem impervious. Wondering what happened to farmall videos, now I know

If you find something wrong with the motor on the M and that is the original motor to the tractor I would most likely rebuild it if it were possible. I'm sure finding a good used motor would be the easiest/cheapest solution, but the motor is the heart of the machine. Just something sentimental about keeping a part of something that has spent hours and hours doing what it did in place. Kinda like my Grand dad's old Ford 8n. We redid the motor in it and repainted it a number of years ago. Could have made it a 100% proper show tractor, but we didn't. All those battle scars speak to the seat time Grand dad had on it.

I think the baler mounted rake is a great concept. I've been looking at mounting our round baler to a rake to improve production. I only round bale lesser quality hay and when I'm short additional help it sure would save time. Are you still looking at going with the NH rakes Wes?

Have you looked into the Vermeer power rakes? We use one and it is efficient and sturdy as hell.
@daviddeans98297 жыл бұрын
Hey Wes, couldn't you fabricate a rake system on your Baler tractor that would raise and lower on the rear linkage to avoid putting strain on your baler ? That way you could rake and bale in one
@johnwallace74657 жыл бұрын
Since those tractors you bought in England have the 3 point in the front do they make a Rake that goes on the front?
@austinnokes44217 жыл бұрын
a jam nut on there would probably help keep it from breaking too.
@tjb40307 жыл бұрын
why wouldn't the thread eands be the same as a three point adjustable in the center ? also if you only replace a few rake teeth could you just grind the long one down enough to be uniform?

Wes are you replacing with the same H&S's? Or were you going to try the New Holland's? I know at one point you were mulling over that idea.
@mattwillson82807 жыл бұрын
Just do a bearing roll, it'll need it.
@bennyrussell55517 жыл бұрын
Wes is there a specific reason you didn't apply grease in those threads?
@onelonleyfarmer7 жыл бұрын
dirt is attracted to grease and it will build up dirt on that spot and wear out the threads faster, its the same reason you dont grease chain on a baler.
@bennyrussell55517 жыл бұрын
Gotcha
@arwelagrimachinery7 жыл бұрын
ah tbh we have a old jug full of waste oil with a brush for any adjustable threads, etc but saying that oil doesn't stay/stick on the thread like grease does

@travisamberman5837 жыл бұрын
stephen staunton he said it would take a few months. A lot of paperwork, fees, etc has to be taken care of and such. It takes a good while for that stuff to be filed and the tractors to be cleared for export then they have to be imported once they get here and paperwork done. It's a long process, but in the end it's worth the savings. The 4960 was imported also

@nathanbrodeur7 жыл бұрын
stephen staunton the tractors are probably going to get their 2 weeks to a week and a half before Christmas
@arjanwilbie25117 жыл бұрын
It depends on the loading schedule, I expect they get loaded on a car carrier or strapped to a freight sled (container bottom) and shipped by container carrier. I hope the tractors are squeeky clean as the USA customs will clean it at extortion rates.
