All systems can work under a non-sociopathic government that doesn't hate it's workers. Supporting the idea of communism doesn't mean you support China and the way their communist country operates. America currently has a crony-capitalist system with a government that hates the working class. Supporting what can work under communism doesn't make you an edgy, soviet, comrad, communist, just like supporting what works under capitalism doesn't immediately make you a greedy, gluttonous, step on everyone else for your success, capitalist. I think capitalism and communism both have pros to them and we should allow those systems to be altered in a way that's beneficial to the people

Should Ethan be a respectful friend if he hears Hasan is supporting China and Russia. Doesn't he have a moral imperative to question him, especially as Ethan is platforming Hasan as a political commentator.

Hasan literally makes millions spouting this nonsense. He also actively avoids conversation with non-friendly individuals. So if people like Ethan don’t put him on the spot and grill him he essentially has free reign and no culpability for his (often uneducated) positions.

Hasan wants to champion himself as a political commentator. Why should Ethan let him weasel out of a political argument if that's his "expertise"? Also a good friend is the one who's willing to challenge you when they think you're wrong.

Yes, the reason he wants to drop the conversation is because if it kept going and being pressed, he would have to hash out scenarios that would make him look bad. Good friends hold you accountable for your shitty takes. That’s what Ethan was doing. If that makes Hassan look bad, that’s on him for defending that position. Ethan had to end the whole segment because Hasan refused to be honest. Just because Hasan is used to being able to weasel out of bad takes with his 15 year old girl audience doesn’t mean people need to come hold his hand when he squirms on a bad take.
