Finally a KZfaq video on running a TL-1 lathe. Good job!

Thank you for this. Considering buying one and was never sure how easy it was to jump from tool to tool and expect any decent results. Great help.

Great job Trion! We have a lathe just like it in our shop. This video will now be part of our regular instruction for our high school machining students

You're doing a great job teaching the basic tool offsets. Good job!

Tools should be set off a consistent datum and then set work offset on piece of work.

I am learning it now. I thought I was supposed to barely take material off the stock again and measure the radius for each tool. No wonder I was getting parts that looked all slightly different. Just wish you explained distance to go when verifying how far the blade is from the part.

Run the spindle when you touch off the tools.

Very good video. It does make me wonder though what the point of a CNC toolroom lathe is. For production fair enough but I could produce this part just as easily on my old Colchester lathe in less time.

@@biscuitsandgravy Yes if you are making multiple parts obviously it makes sense but not so much for one offs.

There's many many parts and shapes that you simply cannot do with a fully manual lathe. Plus with conversational programming it doesn't take very long to program a complex contour on a lathe.

Tl-1s the don..mod your z axis handle 2 the same as x axis relieves backlash and noise ...part off at 600 and hold part As about 2 drop

Could program and run this part 1/4 of the time with a proto trak lathe 😌
@johanneslaxell6641 Жыл бұрын
You could do it much faster on this to without messing with camera and explaining. BTW, last time I asked the ratio "equipped TL-2":Proto Trak was 2:1. I really hope that you get "bang for the bucks" if you pay double... I am considering replacing our Harrison Alpha 460 for a TL-2 since need has changed, 3000 rpm would be nice and the space could be set to better use.

Doesnt seem a very accurate way of setting the offsets.
