Yiddish was mostly spoken by Eastern European and Russian Jews. It’s a derivation of both German and Hebrew. It’s still spoken today as a first language among Hasidic Jews in their communities throughout Brooklyn and upstate New York. Whats the point of saying you believe something when you can easily look it up. Hebrew was never a "dead language" since it is and has always been used in religious script and prayers. The reason why it wasn't the most spoken language in European regions was due to assimilation and the necessity to communicate with non-Jews and non-hebrew speakers

It’s great getting to learn from you two and to hear your perspective on this film as the average American isn’t aware of all the political messaging relative to the Arab world. After which the West backstabbed them like always.
@3TTriple
@3TTriple Ай бұрын
The movie and what happened in real life were not really about uniting the Arabs; it was about making the general population believe they were getting united so they could use the Arabs to backstab the Ottoman Empire. The goal was always to get the resources and create political puppets who would allow the British to rob the Middle East. Instead of a big Arabia, which a lot of people wanted, they allowed a few Arab leaders to create all these little dictatorial kingdoms where you only have to control one person to gain control over a country. Every time one caused a bit of a problem, the British and USA would just finance terrorism or dangerous minorities to fight against the suppression. That's why the US supported Al-Qaeda, ISIS, PKK, and many more. If it doesn't happen directly by the UK and US, then it's through long-time standing puppets in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. There is a very harsh German standup comedy like theater show called: "Volker Pispers about USA (english subtitles)", I can recommend. Also for this channel to review.

First time I heard an Algerian song was back around 2001. The music section of Barnes and Noble had an international section where you could hear songs on a headset. They happened to have one from Cheb Mami and I bought it. Still love it. But at the time I had no idea what language it was in or where it was from, i figured middle-eastern. Years later I had a co-worker from Syria and played him some on a walkman. He said it was Arabic with a Moroccan accent. Eventually I looked it up when I finally got the internet around 2010 and found out it was Algerian. Lol. It was a different world before internet was available every moment.

It is supposed to be mocking Libya's Muammar Gaddafi, and Turkmenistan's Saparmurat Niyazov and the country Wadiya is loosely based on Eritrea. When they show the map at the beginning Wadiya is where Eritrea would be. This film basically is based on the stereotype of the Arab Dictator, I think mostly a comedy version of Muammar Gaddafi and maybe Saddam Hussein, but mostly I think it's based off Gaddafi. For example one of Saddam's sons literally made an elite unit with Darth Vader helmets. Meanwhile Gaddafi had an all female body guard unit which is exaggerated/made fun of in this film as well. Basically making fun of the lets say ridiculous things some of these guys did.

Yiddish is a Jewish language derived from Hebrew with origins in 9th century Germany. With the "new world" era of America. Communities of Yiddish speaking Jews found their way to the USA. As a result there are still communities in the US where you can find people speaking Yiddish. With representation in pop culture as well as more conventional forms of language spreading, many are familiar with some Yiddish words without necessarily being aware. "Chutzpah" meaning "audacity" is common one.

I somewhere heard that “Arabic language” in this movie is actually Hebrew with different pronouciation so for the western people it would sound like arabic language. Don’t forget that Sascha Baron Cohen (Aladeen) is actually Jewish so it would make sense.
