It will be a voltage doubler just like the input stage of a 120/240 selectable ATX PSU. They have two capacitors in series so they only need to handle half the voltage. When in 120V mode neutral goes to the centre tap, positive cycles charge one cap and negative the other. In 240V mode a bridge charges both caps in series. Either way the DC is 340V.

The trick with superglue is to never put the top back on. Cyanoacrylate monomer has a high vapour pressure and it gives off vapour which polymerises in the cap and eventually blocks the nozzle. Leave the top off and it just blows away. You can keep it in the fridge too. Also buy cheap stuff, it's all the same and it hurts less when the bottle goes solid.

For the curious among us keyboard warriors, here is how the Jizzero makes ~330Vdc from 120Vac with two diodes and no transformers. ibb.co/hm8Cav That will put a tingle in your dingle....
@smartmonkey7777 жыл бұрын
So how with the .6 or more volt drop from the diode do you go from 119.4 v to 169? , seems a bit free energy here. In reality 119.4+119.4 =236.8. is what you would actually get .
@MrRadioAct7 жыл бұрын
You make a good point about the diode drops, that is something to be aware of, however since it is less than 0.2% of the overall voltage generated I tend to ignore them. I believe the main misconception here stems from AC voltage being measured in Volts RMS where in this circuit DC volts are measured as peak voltage. To convert from one to the other you multiply by 1.414. It's a wanky system at first glance but due to the fact that AC is a sinusoid waveform it simplifies some calculations. So for fun: 120Vac can make 169V DC 220Vac can make 311V DC 480Vac can make 678V DC

I think if you can look at the network traffic coming out of the device you can see where it is trying to authenticate the bag. It might be a pain in the ass but in theory it should be possible to set a proxy up that this has to go through that always responds with a "Yes"

It'd be funny if it used some sort of encrypted authentication to do so. I mean that would be the clincher in how insane this whole concept is.

Over engineered, BIG TIME: A perfectly engineered device, upon failure, will reduce itself to its basic atomic elements.

Super Geek you're probably not an engineer
@supergeek14187 жыл бұрын
+nico soto But, Kind Sir, I am. I'm quoting one of my college profs (40 years ago, mind you, but it was said). I also do believe it's somewhat true. The point he was making was: If a part fails, make that part stronger. Repeat with the next part that fails. Eventually, everything will fail all at once. That's the sweet spot.
@schlusky7 жыл бұрын
I think that is basically what konigsegg did when designing one of their engines. pretty sure the end result was a v8 that made stupid power with more bullet proof reliability than a chevy 350.

+Doug Anderson All engineering is a series of compromises: economics vs.the needs of the job at hand. A "properly" engineered item is one that balances these competing needs well. A "perfectly" engineered item completely self destructs upon failure. Remember: The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Try read the QR code with your smartphone - maybe it's not coded information. Then you can create any code you want and show it to the reader. Say, it says "shitjuice best before 1st may 2017". Create new QR that says that it's best before 1st june and scan it.
@chaos.corner6 жыл бұрын
I believe they are actual serial numbers. Otherwise you could do the Keurig thing of removing the code and using it on aftermarket bags. This thing has to be online when you use it. (Unless you tear it apart)
@HenriZwols6 жыл бұрын
Even more so; each individual bag has its own code. So the number is just looked up in their database. And they know which of their bags has been used.

The company who sells you juice knows exactly at what time you drink their product. That's got to be handy for marketing, sending you personalised mail, convincing you to buy more juice.
