Hacking your Helios 44M! - Element Reversal How To

Күн бұрынElement Reversal seems to be the "thing" for old soviet lenses at the moment. The 44M, while being the less popular of the 44 lenses still has it's merit and does exhibit that classic swirly bokeh.
This video shows you how to reverse the front and rear elements.

I know that is is late by 3 years?? Do you have to reverse both front and back elements? What happens if you just reverse the front only, or the back only? I did no see the round bokeh swirling as I anticipated . It just blur the focus on the outer frame. . You can do this by putting some grease on the outer part of a clear filter in front of the lens for same blurring effect??? Thanks for showing us how to do it though!!!

*cleans element as there was finger prints, puts it in lens and proceeds by placing whole finger on the glass repeatedly

gloveeeeesssss!!! skin fat can nourish fungus that destroys your lens coating... I am suffering...

Sorry for the late reply. Based on an image of the 44m-4 it looks like a very similar if not the same front element construction so I think it would work. As always, don't do it to a lens that you like using as is, in case you damage it. Good luck.

Warning: it doesn't fit well because it is touching another lens. I know because I've tried. In my case it was even rotating before I fixed it, because two lenses ware touching exactly in the centers of them.

same here. Now I got small damage on two elements right in the middle of it.... any way to solve this?
