MAKE SURE TO INSTALL THE USB DRIVERS BEFORE TRYING DFU RECOVERY! You can find them in the folder mayhem_v2.0.1_FIRMWARE / driver You need to right click and choose install on both the file hackrf_one.inf and lpc_dfu.inf

You sir. I bid you a many thanks because I’ve been trying to update this hackRF for so long and all the videos I kept watching kept telling me to do stuff I kept trying. I tried doing it on my Mac. It didn’t work. I tried doing it on my computer that I run only on BlackArch. It didn’t work. And then I tried doing it on my regular Acer computer it didn’t work, and then I finally tried doing it on my PC and then for some reason they downloaded as WinRar files, and then I had to undo that somehow and then I try again, and still nothing so now I’m gonna try what you said all the other ones kept telling me to mess with mayhem for that bin the first to say format the SD card. I’m really looking forward to messing around with this. I’ve had this device at least three or four months now and haven’t been able to really do much. I just couldn’t figure it out. I have mayhem 188 but that doesn’t do anything I think.

When using the USB flash method, it would not detect my PortaPack, but they include drivers in 'driver/dpinst.exe' that installed the USB drivers from sharedbrain which fixed it. Excellent video, but hope to save someone time with this possible caveat

Question - if I get one on eBay how do I tell if it can be updated to the new mayhem V2.0?

If it's a HackRF Portapack H1 or H2 it will work with Mayhem. Go to the Mayhem Github Wiki (there is a link in the description) and you will find a page with compatible devices. It's just the H3 and mini ones that aren't compatible, all other ones are.

@@sn0ren okay because I got mine on a trusted seller from eBay but many people on Reddit are saying it gets really complicated to determine which ones are upgradeable. Currently the device has mayhem v1.4.3 so it should be easily upgradable to 2.0?

@@Xwodsarecool i found one that uses the clear case and had the Mayhem branded board (who knows probably a clone) but it already had 1.9.1 on it. this made me comfortable it could probably be upgraded. i know how you feel because there is soooo many on eBay and questionable sellers. i got mine for around 170

For some reason mine has been working great for a day and then it just doesn’t turn on it does a quick screen flash and then goes to black

My portapack has a black screen I’ve tried every method possible my computer won’t install the driver needed to use via usb to flash firmware it was working when I first got it but somehow I messed around and erased all data on my as card so now it’s just black screen every time it will flash for a second but has nothing to read

You need to do a DFU recovery. Follow the steps in the video and make sure you have the dfu driver installed and are using a good usb cable.

Whatever you have lying around. 16-32gb is plenty. Speed doesn’t matter.

Hi, I have seen a lot of different versions of these on Amazon. And the price range also differs very much!! Like €150 to €450 !! So what is the actual price of the portapack and what version is that!?

You shouldn't pay more than €150 - €200 for a HackRF Portapack H2 and I would suggest buying from aliexpress if you have the patience to wait for it to arrive. The amazon resellers are charging more to gain a profit, and because they've probably also payed import tax. I have a link in the description for a good seller on aliexpress.

Copy over all the folders from the COPY_TO_SDCARD file from the GitHub.

The root of any storage is the base level. So if you are in the file explorer and click on the SD card, that is where the folders will go. Do not have a folder titled: Mayhem or something like that and have them in there. I think this is the question you were asking?

I try, but the consol shows "mkdir /FIRMWARE directory already exists. ch> fclose no open file ch> fopen /FIRMWARE/mayhem_nightly_n_240425_OCI.ppfw.tar Error calling delete_file: 13 no filesystem ch>" the portapack dont appear in my windows 10..the plug sounds when I plug it in but it does not appear I got the H2 R1 version
