Humans of Bombay

Күн бұрын

Growing up in then Gurgaon in a joint family, this adventurous kid, who we know as Rajkummar Rao, was driven towards theater and sports over everything else. As a kid, he used to mimic stalwarts like Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. Little did he know what destiny had in store for him.
As he grew older, his interest in theater acting grew even more. He was highly inspired by Manoj Bajpayee's performances. After completing his graduation, he cracked the prestigious Film and Television institute of India, Pune with Acting as his major. With no backing and no connection to the industry of Bollywood, he struggled to make his way in.
There were times when he wouldn't have any money for food or basic necessities. But his will and determination to achieve his dream, kept him going. When he first earned a sum of Rs.5,000/- for an Ad he did, he simply couldn't believe it. Slowly and steadily, he started making the right moves and landed his first role in a feature film by Dibakar Banerjee, called 'Love Sex aur Dhoka'.
His unique approach towards acting was recognised by film fraternity and he started getting more reputable offers. In 2013, he bagged his first major role which put him up on the posters in Mumbai. This was, 'Kai Po Che' with fellow actors Amit Sadh and Late Sushant Singh Rajput. Then in 2013, for his performance in 'Shahid', he finally had his arrival with a 'National Film Award for Best Actor'.
Since then he crafted his own path with strong stories and unforgettable characters. Leading the lineup of new league actors, he stands tall and proud for his choices and the legacy of work he has built all through the last decade.
Rajkummar opens up on finding love, his unshakable focus, losing his parents and building his labor of love, his own home in Mumbai. Let's know the journey of this man, who came from Gurgaon and found a special place in the heart of Hindi Film Industry.
With his latest venture Bheed, he leads the narrative of the struggles faced during lockdown and the haunting migrant crisis of Corona, 2020.

About Humans of Bombay -
Humans of Bombay is a movement that started 8 years ago. We believe that every person has a story to tell and we want to help them tell these stories. In these years we’ve published stories across genres - stories of love, hope, faith and courage. And through our storytelling, we’ve built an engaged community of over 4.5M!
Our idea is simple - to strike a chord with our community and catalogue the beat of humanity, one story at a time.

Your interviews are very good in terms of topics that you bring up unlike gossiping that mostly interviews nowadays bring. I wish you would interview people outside Bollywood as well. You have a much broader audience and interviewing people from different fields will give more reality and I believe the audience will love it.

Out of the chute, Raj Kumar Rao was excogitating, " Whatevs floats my boat", aside from this, Bite off more than he can chew, don't run out of steam, put all your eggs in one basket, cut corners, take your foot off the pedal, throw off the yoke, pull the plug, flog yourself to death, have more than one string to your bow, boss up, buckle down, flat out like a lizard drinking, keep your nose to the grindstone, get butter from the duck, go at it hammer and tongs, take it up a notch, bring your A-game, don't go back to square one, feel annihilated, go back to the drawing board, and roll up your sleeves, work your socks off, slog your guts out, take a mammoth punt, tread a tightrope, stick your neck out, and whilst things go kablooey, awry or adrift, have a stout heart, be intrepid, dauntless, mettlesome, venturesome, keep your ends up, take the bull by the horns, keep a level head, keep your pants on, bide your time notwithstanding goin' thru a wringer, goin' down the rabbit hole, being on the edge of a precipice, embroiling amour propre, keep burning the candles at both ends, and do get a bead on or take nitty-gritty, nuts and bolts on board, " Life's not a pot of gold, in point of fact, 'tis an amalgam or brew of all hills and valleys, henceforth rein looking it thru rose-tinted glasses, over and above, Not all donuts've a hole, amidst multitudinous stages of life, from giddy-up to whoa, Some days honey, some days onions, yet don't falter, relent or flounder, when shit hits the fan, the situation goes south or the situation goes pear-shaped, amass forbearance, goin' off on a tangent, don't feel on tenterhooks, aflutter, jittery, rattled, perturbed, uptight, strung up, on pins and needles, into a tizzy, in a dither or have your heart in your mouth or act like a cat on a hot tin roof, tear your hair out, don't go in limbo, in the middle of the ocean, on the fence, or lose your bearings, lose the plot, or let your life get bogged down, in a rut, come to the fore, spread your wings and soar above stars, don't feel lugubrious, crestfallen, downcast, apathetic, half-hearted, gutted, in the doldrums, try your damnedest, do your darnedest, and keep your eyes on the ball, give it a fling, give an eye teeth for it, go the whole hog, see it thru to the end, and whilst encumbrances, stumbling blocks, bottlenecks crop up, don't have ants in your pants, and come, rain or shine, don't shun it, be tenacious, resolute, unflinching, undeterred, undaunted, obstinate, hell-bent, unpliable, as stubborn as a mule, juxtapose fire in your belly, hang in, stand your ground, do credit, " The tallest oak in the forest was once just a little nut that held its ground" and by fits and starts, sporadically whilst maleficent, sinister, hideous, desolate, wretched situations put a damper, whistle in the dark, screw up courage, showcase aplomb, moxie, chutzpah, gumption, fortitude, bravado, have balls, while life throws you the gauntlet, be receptive not insular, get wid the programme, you call your bluff, and get your groove back, lick your wounds, rise to the occasion, well and truly, from soup to nuts, lock, stock and barrel and bear this in mind, " True courage's like a kite a contrary wind raises it higher", not to mention" do embrace sth as a labor of love, not as a daunting task or Herculean task, do excogitate, " Whilst everything feels like an uphill struggle just think of the view from the top", " Shoot for the moon. E'en if you miss you'll land among the stars" and sutterly, " Owl of Minerva spreads its wings with the falling of the dusk, in addition, whilst the odds go 'gainst you, do have a good head on your shoulder, be sapient, sagacious, have your head screwed on, go over with a fine-toothed comb, all round, radically, be stoic, unflappable, imperturbable, have nine lives, batten down the hatches, roll out with punches n' let life gain momentum, after a teensy-weensy hiatus, pick up the pace, and go like a dream, to the hilt, to the gills and don't sweep afflictions under the rug, kick the can down the road, don't blank out, " E'en the longest day's an end" " April showers bring may flowers"," The darker side's just ahead of the dawn", additionally, whether we lose on swings we gain on roundabouts to boot.
