In this video, learn English grammar and learn how to use the modal verb "had better".
You will learn how to form grammatically correct sentences using correct English sentence structure. We'll look at examples using both positive sentences and negative sentences.
Next you'll understand how to sound more natural by using contractions. A native English speaker won't say "You had better...." They're going to say "You'd better". You need to learn how to identify and understand the contraction using "subject had contraction"
Finally you'll understand exactly what "had better" means by seeing lots of examples in context.
You'll even get to practice forming your own sentences using "had better" at the end.
By the end of the video, you'll learn English grammar and learn the modal verb "had better".
Please subscribe for more videos to help you learn English and sound like a native English speaker!

Hi. I learned from someone (he's american) that "had better" is considered somewhat confrontational/threatening someone. For example, instead of saying "You had better drink water," it's better to say "You should drink water" to make the expression softer/suggestive. 'you had better drink water' Has 'Did you drink water? I'll get mad if you didn't."-ish nuance according to him. Is this correct?
