I haven't, but from posts made on the Google Groups "Picochess", it appears the app will run on a Pi Zero.

The 3.1 version of Picochess will run on 7" screen. Get it at the Google Groups "Picochess". It was just updated today. This assumes you know how to flash a new version to your SD card. If not, I have a video that has instructions on how to do this. However, here, I'm only typing the Pi's IP address into a browser. To get the screen to show. You need version 3.1 to select from the menu Webserver versus DGT board. Otherwise with 3.0 you need to comment out #DGTPi=True in picochess.ini. I think you want a desktop version (3.1) to use the attached 7" monitor. It will boot to the Raspberry desktop; you open the Chromium Browser and enter your Pi IP address (IP addr can be found under the menu option "Information") Under "Board Type", select Web Play (instead of DGT board) and then select "Game Setup" to play a "New Game" and respond "Yes". Note: I'm doing the menu options from memory, but they are close enough. Use a spare SD card (at least 16-32 GB in size) to flash a desktop version of Picochess. It will install a new version of the Raspberry Pi OS (Bullseye 11).
