* Milky-Lotion Update* I see a lot of people asking about the 'milky lotion' , 'moisturising milk', 'milk' variety so let me quickly explain - I didn't even think to include it in this video (silly me 🥲) because in Japanese the 'toners' in this video are a completely different product to their 'milky' alternative. Tbh I didn't even know they called them 'milky-lotions' since I always look at product info on their official Japanese website! Lotion (English translation) = Keshousui (Japanese name) = Toner (English product equivalent) Milky Lotion (English translation) = Nyueki (Japanese name) = Emulsion (English product equivalent) Emulsions are quite common in Japanese Skincare since it is a step you can add in between your toner and moisturiser, since it has both water and oil content to bridge that gap. It is great if you want to add more moisture without having to use something heavy, or even for people who have oilier skin and want to skip a moisturiser all together, an emulsion can just be a light textured moisturiser! Hope that clears things up - I didn't realise how many people were interested in the milky version so pls give this comment a thumbs up if you want to see a video dedicated on them in the future!! 💖💖💖

Hi Tina, you forget to include the exfoliating lotion version, the tamagohada mild peeling lotion hada labo. It's a good option for beginner or sensitive skin, and quite famous in my country. Maybe you can include this lotion into your review next time.

@@twinklingni811 No, the plastic packaging is literally the label. You're only supposed to remove the plastic around the cap. Remove everything and you'll get a plain bottle.

Hada Labo is really a brand that is simple, no frills and fragrance-free. The Premium Gokyujun lotion (in gold casing) is really very moisturizing even in the Korean winter, and I am starting to understand why even South Koreans love it.

@@Tttt28882 - no kidding. I'm a reluctant liberal (hate both the left & right), but can u believe I read a decent article by a conservative org 🙄. It said, rightfully, that the Progressives (more like Regressives) r obsessed w/petty race/id politics when speciesism/animal issue is what we urgently need to reconcile with! When it comes to how we treat our fellow animals, almost nothing has changed since the medieval days. U wouldn't believe the gruesome lab experiments still going on. I've read about one where 100's of cats were given large dose of Modanifil (I've taken this & it's excruciatingly head pounding), then they were suspended in water or something. If they fell asleep they drown. The cats didn't get to sleep for 30 days out of their will to survive, but they ended up drowning. Wtf is this? Sigh. Why don't they tested on convicted murderers? P. S. The Chinese... their Wuhan market sells live cats & dogs for meat. That's not all, they r beaten & SKINNED ALIVE cuz they believe their unbearable pain makes the meat tenderer... I've heard from the person who told me, he heard the poor animal's screams/cries 😔.

I've used the red one consistently for the last 6 months, along with the moisture cream which is like a thick butter for your face. It does help a lot with making your skin look bright!

Thank you for comparing the Hada Labo lotions (and creams in another video). You are the only youtuber who gave an in depth description of the residue like feeling or lack thereof. That helped me a lot to finally find the perfect cream an lotion for me, as I can't stand a feeling of having cream on my face. I exhausted all the creams in Germany and finally found my holy grail in japan :)

Thank you for this updated review Tina. Very helpful. 👍 I avoided shirojyun because I'm allergic to arbutin, so I'm glad to know that hada labo has reformulated it. I doubt, however, if I'm going to try it despite the reformulation as I'm quite satisfied with the shirojyun premium variant. I also think the premium one is better ingredients-wise, because it has licorice root extract in addition to tranexamic acid. So it's good not only for brightening but also for calming the skin.

So happy to see this update on hada labo lotions! 😍🥰 I recently got the premium shirojyun milk that has a new packaging. I've used the cream version and I like it but one tub only lasted me around 2 or 3 months (it's so small). Now I'm just contemplating whether to get the lotion one as well because I'm still good with my I'm From Rice Toner though 😄

I lived in Japan and must have used hundereds of bottles of both the whitening and premium whitening toners, and continue to use for years. I've tried all the others as well but the whitening and premium whitening range are my HG toners that I always fall back too. I love the ingrediants and also the way they are fragrance, essential oil and alcohol free. I also used the creams from the same line and the 乳液 (lotion, but the cream lotion not the toner.... I don't know what that would be in English lol)

@@Andrew-hr6bu It depends on what ingredients work on your skin. They are both great for sun damaged skin (right here) and of course both have the soy that helps prevent melanin formation.The white has arbutin as a whitening ingredient, while the gold contains tranexamic acid.

There's one more Hada Labo lotion that I think exclusive to the South East Asian market. Its the Hada Labo Tamagohada Mild Peeling Lotion. Its my favorite too. Its like a very gentle exfoliator. It does comes with cleanser too.

Very thorough review! I have the gokujyun premium with the gold cap. I wanted to love it but it dries my skin out. Tried it by itself on clean dry skin, tried on damp skin, tried following it with my serums & moisturizer. It felt good when I applied it but hours later/next day my face wld always feel extra dry. It also caused irritation on my neck, it was red & almost a scaly texture. Then I tried it on my body after showering on damp skin & followed with my regular moisturizer. Hours later my skin started feeling itchy. I applied it to clean damp hair followed by a leave-in conditioner and my usual styling products. The next day my hair felt extra dry. Maybe I'll try the aging one in the red bottle.

SHIROJYUN Premium seems to have additional ingredients such as Arbutin and Niacinamide. 😍 probably purchasing this instead of the old SHIROJYUN arbutin formula -- my fav. Here in Thailand, I read from the ingredient list -- which I think required to put in the labels which I find very useful.

A skin conditioner is still considered a toner in Japan although usually has ingredients to help 'condition the skin' as I said in the video = help with breakouts so you can definitely use both if you wanted to (I'd recommend wipe of with the skin conditioner, then palm-applying the Hada Labo lotion) but it is not NECESSARY to use both if that makes sense!

Great video. I was surprised that you didn't mention one of the key benefits of the Gold Premium bottle - the inclusion of 3% urea! Urea is fabulous for adding hydration. I'm wondering whether the blue Premium bottle also includes urea (and if that's why it's also called Premium)?

Thanks for this thorough update! I am a little sad that they no longer have alpha arbutin in the new formulas of the blue and red range. Premium blue was like milky white before... felt more like an actual lotion than a toner. Thanks again! Cheers! 🤗

I was disappointed when I found out they've reformulated the basic lotion toner (the first one you showed) when I went into the Asian skincare shop, but I was advised to try the new formulation and I'm more obsessed with the new one actually.

I also like Kohakuhada xYamano lotion ameber extract lotion it is also Japanese brand it has natural ingredients. I can't read Japanese it all covered in Japanese only line in English amber skin natural beauty 😍 it is very moisturizing. Randomly found it in an Asian beauty store where I live.
