Kudos from America. Subscribed. Two fun-loving and good-natured chaps cycling and stealth camping and showing the glories of Hadrian's Wall and friendship, as well. And no irreverence or profanity, either. You even used respectful music for the old church scene. You guys are at the top of my list. I look forward to more of your adventures!

Wow what a comment, this is fantastic, thank you. I am glad you spotted the music in the church scene, good spot! A lot of pressure being at the top of the list, but hopefully you will also enjoy our new video that we should be releasing in the next couple of weeks. Always good to hear from our American brothers over the pond.

Thanks Andrew, it is a fantastic route, loads to see and fairly easy to follow (apart from when you are going really fast downhill!). It is great that you are going to cycle the same route as us. Send us a picture on twitter when you do @beardbrothersuk - I would argue Luke is truly awesome, but that is because he who has the login details to KZfaq makes the rules, ha ha

+Beard Brothers I would have paid to watch this. You should contact the BBC :-). Just a quick question I am a female planning to do this cycle towing my 2 jack Russell terriers behind me. I don't want to cycle on any busy roads. Do you think I could get away with it? Ps loved the Viking like swimming scenes. Hehe.

Great video. Me and a mate did it in reverse in July but to say we were unlucky with the weather is an understatement!! Took 3 days and it chucked it down every day. Flooded roads, the lot. I must say I didn't recognise many places but maybe that's because we just had our heads down. Bizarrely, we recorded 191 miles so we must have got more lost than we thought!! Difficult to spot some of the "72" posts. You look like you enjoyed yours far more than we did but at least we can say we did it and there's always the next one, right?? Must have been great to be applauded at the end. Well done and thanks.
@BeardBrothersUK
@BeardBrothersUK 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks James, it is a lot easier to enjoy if you dodge the rain, we did it in early April so we got lucky! I guess we were slower which gave us time to explore a bit more. The only reason we didn't get lost very often is because Chris is a superb navigator! In reality we probably did a few more miles as well. The route could do with a few more signs especially in the more built up areas, I got the feeling some may have been deliberately removed! Maybe not everyone likes cycle tourists!! Anyway glad you enjoyed the video, we have another one on the way soon, this time through Wales. Keep Pedalling👍

This is the second of your videos I've watched, and to be honest they make me a bit homesick for the UK. I've found the only solution is to remind myself how beautiful my adopted country is by going on rides in my region of south Germany....

Thanks for posting fella's as I really enjoyed watching it. Probably too late for me but I would love to think that my grandsons do the same sometime. Just great to see two mates out there enjoying themselves. And to think you did it without wearing either lycra or a cycle helmet. Now that IS living dangerously ha ha ! Regards Ted
@BeardBrothersUK
@BeardBrothersUK 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ted, we had a great time, and it has made my day that you noticed we didn't wear Lycra, we decided the bikes were already aerodynamic enough, ha ha. Never to late to get out on your bike, my Grandad still rides his bike and he is in his late 80's! There is still time to pull on the Lyrca and get out there. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and leaving a comment. We have another video coming from Wales that will be online soon, if you subscribe you will be notified when we upload it. Thanks again Ted - Luke

A very natural and heartwarming piece of film making. The Luke/Chris combo works and I enjoyed the stealth camps and tent talks. I was expecting Chris to enumerate on the five obstacles he had to overcome to reach Newcastle Station. This would have been an intriguing and entertaining narrative in the tent talks. Documentaries are often contrived with elaborate set pieces. We are not seeing reality but a clever simulation. This film is real. Ride a loaded touring cycle across countries and continents and a dice begins to roll; you've entered the eternal flux where anything can happen.. In the scheme of things, this is a small journey but a big adventure . Highly watchable.

That was beautiful. I wish the world was more like these people. In the U.S. where I am, we don't get to see such beauty when bike packing/touring. We have to see and smell slaughter houses, industrial dairy farms, and all sorts of industrial industries... it is like biking through hell. That is just how the people choose to live. The only bright side is that the country is so huge, it isn't like you see hell all of the time, the rest is nature. I wish people would treat the animals and their land better, like where you two are here in the video. It is so bad in the U.S. right now that we are having mass die offs of fish and wildlife from the algae blooms that are feeding on the mass scale pollution from the factories, the agricultural runoff, and all of the chemicals and poisons that people are using on pretty much everything, even their own land and bodies. The algae blooms are efcecting the entire east coast, killing mass amounts of fish and wildlife. I am sure there will be many diseases and other things to follow. Everything about the way they live is killing everything. They won't stop and think about how their actions have consequences, and those consequences effect their lives, their children's lives, their grandchildren's lives, and the lives of everyone around them. I can guarantee that even the horrible things going on right now will not change the people. My sister just moved to Europe and I feel that I may leave as well. I, unlike these people, do not want to live in the hell of their own creation. From all of this, I have learned that every single decision we make in life, from what we put in our bodies, what we put on our bodies, and what we choose to use on a daily basis, effects everything. It is our choices that matter, no matter how big or how small. How we treat the land and animals is how we treat ourselves.

Brilliant, I just had a look at your bike, looks like a fantastic bike. The sense of freedom of touring is fantastic. My opinion on the tent after a few tours is that I would sacrifice lightness for getting a 4 season tent. A dry and secure nights sleep is the most important thing especially when touring in the UK. Top Tent Tip, get a green tent, people seem to ignore green tents! Sorry for the delayed response, we were in Scotland filming a new tour video.

When you got off the ferry at the start it is better to use the dedicated cyclist tunnel beneath the river Tyne, built in the 1950's. It's a listed strutcure. The cool bridge after Newcastle is near Wylam, which in turn has the oldest passenger railway station in the world. George Stevenson was born there.

Just found your vids. Love em! Adventure cycling isn't about fancy bikes and spd pedals. It's about getting off your arse and doing shit. With your mate. Whilst having a laugh. Hope to see you out there!
