all of these guys are incredible but I have never heard of DiPiazza until today and am very impressed with his unique technique, intonation/ articulation. At 10:00 he just takes it to next level!

monsters!!!! all i have to say is Jaco lives on, there's a stint of jaco in all of their phrasing and sound. Of course evolution is unstoppable but I repeat jaco lives on

It's not a competition I know, but Dominique really puts the bar high for Hadrien and Richard with his first solo. Incredible.

after 15 years of listening to richard bona, i'm still ambivalent about his playing. on one hand, he's got this amazing groove that makes you nod your head instantly. his execution is second to none. moreover, i love his singing and his ability to stay musical no matter what his role is. he sounds a lot like jaco, but his playing is clear and very recogniseable. on the other hand i think his solo vocabulary is mediocre. he's using the same licks over and over. and i know all musicians have their bag of tricks, but once he starts to play fast it just seems to me he plays this chromatic riff and percussive runs all the time. When he slows it down it sounds much more musical, but a lot of times he's not even playing the changes. i feel similar about his walking. great timing, but poor variety. and i don't think all of this this is something that is really debatable, at least if he's compared to other elite jazz bass players. yet he landed some of the biggest gigs in jazz - which probably gives you an idea about how important the sound a great sense of timing are and what other musicians are looking for when they choose a bass player.

Dominique DiPiazza playing a million notes per minute, but pooping like an amateur on Straight no chaser at the end, LMAO...Thanks to Richard who can end a jam like a pro lol, and look at Hadrien's funny face, great reflex from both musicians, and amazing solos of course!!
