April was hard for me cause there was some tragedies that happened in my life and my work also reopened and its been busy so my stress level has been high so i feel you. I only read 5 books in April

That is actually what I am doing with Percy Jackson right now, HP is a close second but PJ is my favourite book series. Even if it is a bit kiddish, returning to that world surrounded with my favourite characters is just so comforting and helpful to feel better!

I feel like the pressure to read the hyped books is one of the biggest issues with booktube. While I love the popular books, it is so much fun to see all the different books that not as many people are talking about.

This is how i’ve felt the past two years actually, trying to focus on graduating college and balancing jobs and internships made it impossible to read. In 2019 I only read ONE book. I just started reading again this past month and now im planning to read more than ever! This video also helped motivate me!

When I see videos that talk about the book tuber reading a lot of books (20 or 30) in a month it just makes me feel discouraged. Like that’s the standard or something. I have not been enjoying the direction book tube is going in that respect. Sometimes I walk away from those videos and it makes me not want to read because I can’t read that many. I love the fact that you have times of not reading because it’s just normal. Your videos are more relatable in that way. Thank you for being honest and real about it!

I’m currently reading Carry On! It’s one that I’ve put off for a long time but now that I’m finally reading it, I totally get why it’s so popular! I’m listening to the audiobook and just having a great time. I would definitely recommend giving it another chance, but also don’t feel bad if you end up DNFing it!

Uprooted and Spinning Silver do not take place in the same world, so you can read them without having read the other! Spinning Silver is the book I will be reading for character study in college this year, which is awesome because the book has such compelling characters.

I was in the same boat as you in April. I had a hard time reading, but I don’t consider it a failure. It is impossible to fail at reading, and there is no need to feel guilty. I hope you feel better in May and can read when you want to!

I found carry on hard to read at first but then I reached about midway and I just zoomed through it So just get to the part where something happens with the romance (not saying what but you know if you’ve read it) and it will go quickly

March and most of April were a complete wash for me as well. With everything going on my anxiety was almost intolerable. Thank goodness I’m mostly over it and rekindled my reading. Positive vibes for everyone out there.

Everything that is happening in our world takes up a lot of mental space, and when we don’t have any extra space left, we lose our desire to seek out new things. I am definitely in a place where I have a lot of trouble reading new books, so I have been listening to some of my favourite audiobooks and giving myself time. Because my life has been forced to slow down, I’m definitely not ready to push myself too hard right now. Cut yourself some slack - you are doing great regardless!

Hey! You are not alone. I have not been sticking to my TBR list too. LOL. It's understandable that the situation we are all in does affect our reading mood. However, I have found that it helps to calm me down when I just go with a flow.

A few years ago I used to watch ur videos a lot bc thé love for reading books was like endless for me but once I started high school it died down. Yet with this corona break I have found ur videos again and I now have a long list of books to get once the library opens! Your channel, Books and Lala and Ariel Bissett are my favorite booktube channels specifically because you guys do not read or talk about books just because they’re popular or expected. I love watching you three because you guys give suggestions of books that I literally haven’t heard about and that is exciting. Also, I feel as though you guys don’t give in to the pressures- If you don’t feel like reading, don’t! There will still be a ton of us who want to watch whatever forms of videos you put out. I LOVED the time in my life I worked at a book store and found new titles more organically. Cue BookTube, me buying too many books I later found I didn’t REALLY care about, and an overwhelming TBR pile. I’m happy to say after 2-3 years of reading, cutting back on buying, and critically thinking about hype, I only have ONE AND A HALF BOOKS LEFT ON MY TBR. Please please PLEASE don’t read the hyped books. They come and go so quickly. I hope you find your groove soon!

Loved this video, and am definitely going to add many of these to my TBR! Another fantasy recommendation for getting back into the genre is Nocturna by Maya Motayne. I read this after struggling with a couple fantasies and had so much fun with it! I loved the characters and their friendship, and the plot and world were super engaging! The simple summary is a story of a Prince and a thief who end up meeting and accidentally unleashing some dangerous magic and having to fix it. It’s really fun to read and isn’t very long, and could definitely be an option when you feel like trying out a new fantasy! Also, the Latinx inspired world was so magical and well done!

You made sense to me about the pressure of being a book tuber. I have not read any of these books but I did read Spinning Silver, which is very good. I am a mood reader all the way, so I hope that brings you out of your slump. I also read far less than normal in April, by the way, so you are not alone!

Okay so cuz of quarantine I started watching anime and there’s this one anime called “Fruits Basket.” Let me tell you it an AMAZING story and so emotional (and funny). The characters are so amazing and the 2nd season is airing. But the anime is an adaptation of the manga. I suggest you watch the 2019 version of the anime and/or reading the manga. You won’t regret it.

I was reading a lot prior the first wave but most of the books were a bit triggering so I place them down for a bit and I found the popular books helpful to speed up my reading. Taking breaks helps in between all of this and I just binge after I take breaks lol.

That shirt is so pretty I got distracted. 💜 My reading took a hit too. I reckon having a KZfaq channel would make that feeling worse, but I understand the failure feeling. Not that I feel too bad about myself, but reading is fun, so not having the motivation to read or get that escapism really sucks.

For me it’s a relief to hear when other readers have books that have been on their TBR for a while too. It makes me feel less overwhelmed about all of the books that have been on my TBR for years. :)

I am currently reading Spinning Silver and it's so so good! It's not related to Uprooted, which I also enjoyed a lot, but I think they might be set in the same world. Highly recommend them both!

I read 3 in April and one of them was The Way of Kings. That sort of redeems me but it took me almost a month to finish that one and I normally am not that slow. I am an EA in a high school and I got a bunch of books to read with the kids and I am loving those so hopeful I can bust my slump! I also support the HP re read it often busts slumps and reminds me at least why I love books and reading in general! You will love Alex Approximately! Its has amazing banter, great romance and a great story! Starsight is so amazing!!! Let yourself get lost in the world!

I LOVE that top, you look stunning. Give yourself a break, so many people are taking quarantine as a time to do less work and that's okay, that's totally valid. If you want to play animal crossing for an entire day, do it without feeling guilty. Creators have this immense pressure that they should be working 24/7 just because they don't work in an office environment. Yes it's your job and you need to do it to make money but be kind to yourself and let yourself rest when your mind and body says you need to. You got this.

You can try reading in the middle and then going back (carry on) because that’s what I did and it pushed me to read through the first pages. It’s really cute you won’t regret it.

My May tbr includes Lovely War, Prisoner of Night and Fog and Wolf by Wolf. I finally foumd copies of these books and I'm so excited to start reading them. I have lost count of how many times I tried to read Carry On but I always find myself setting it aside until it ended in my dnf list. I rarely do that but I just can't connect with it. Bringing Down the Duke was a very entertaining read for me. I finished it in 24 hrs more or less. ❤❤❤

You do you if you can’t read then that’s fine, you shouldn’t loose your love for reading because you feel pressured, I love watching your videos for inspiration of reads whenever they come out as long as you are still loving what your doing I’ll be happy 😄 x

Omg please give Carry On a chance! The beginning drags but once Baz shows up it’s SO MUCH BETTER!! It’s silly and ridiculous at times but it’s so cute and I really enjoyed it despite its “quirkiness” 🤣🤣. It took me a while to get used to the fact that’s it’s essentially fan fiction so you don’t really get a proper introduction to the characters or the world but I really do feel like it will surprise you how much you end up enjoying it.
