Mr Brookman was a local amateur film maker who lived, at first on Vines Cross Road, then Tollwood Road, before moving to Eastbourne, and later to the west country.
We would be very grateful for any information that anyone can add as to names, places, dates etc. We hope, eventually, to make these films available with either with a commentary, captions or annotations.
In the meantime we will add information below as and when we receive it.
With thanks Mr Brookman for allowing us to make the films available, and to Susan and Barry Russell and Mick Saj.

Looking at this makes me Wonder why they closed the station. It looks really busy and it would have only gotten busier considering how much bigger the town is now

Possibly the only colour footage of a DEMU at Hailsham? Brilliant!

And it's a 2 car unit too (1119). When I went to work there in January 1966 the line was worked usually with a 3 car unit.

My grandad owned the shop opposite the station (until 1971) where the last shot was taken. Pity there isn't a shot of it I might have seen him!

1965 there were still steam engines running to Hailsham. The diesels came when the line to Heathfield was closed. When was Vicarage Field built? After 1966, I think.

this is bad ass. I always wanted to see this town in the 60's. Wonder if the 3 women in this still live here.

I don't mind at all :-) The idea is to share it with as many people as might appreciate the footage.
