To be able to make such a statement you have to have some knowledge of bass playing otherwise what you’re saying is conjecture, inference, and guesswork. If you say it’s your opinion, I’d say opinion is defined as, ‘belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge’. Touché! You should say that in your view she’s a great bass player or you could say that you like her bass playing. That would be more accurate. Saying, ‘when the songs aren't strong enough in their own right’, may or may not be correct although anyone could do that if they had a rudimentary knowledge of the instrument. Bass players play the root notes of the song to the structure of the song otherwise it would sound ludicrous (accepting some forms of jazz). You can’t play along to a song written in one key and then play in another and embellish when necessary from there. She doesn’t find a ‘groove’, she follows the notes/chords written by the songwriter/s. That’s not what makes a great bass player on its own: there are many other factors. Again, whilst a competent bass player she’s not a great one. Often is defined as many times or frequently so I’ll challenge that too. If you check the ten most played songs on Spotify this week none of them has what I’d describe as complex or show off playing and none are played by women. I haven’t researched it (I will if you challenge me) but I’d suggest that the ratio of male to female bass players is something like 100:1or more so correlating that the likelihood of more complex bass playing by males would obviously predominate. Your final comment is so ridiculous and nonsensical that I can’t comment. More accurately I won’t comment on nonsense. Still, anyone with a Television song in their subscriptions is Ok with me!

They are really underrated as performers. Studio perfection is one thing, especially when you have a big budget and you know you can do a hundred takes to get it exactly right. But they're pretty much perfect when playing live and it never fails to amaze me.

Welcome to the fandom! I had a similar experience to you with them. I saw their If I Could Change Your Mind video and didnt think much to the song then, but for some reason I kept going back to it. Then I looked at all their other tracks from Days Are Gone, falling deeper and deeper in love. To this day I'm obsessed (and got my sister obsessed!). Dude I just discovered them too a few months and am absolutely in love with them! They are the real deal and so talented. Bought their album on vinyl yesterday, can’t wait to listen to it start to finish.

i found them in august last year, after their collaboration with Charli XCX, on their song "Warm", absolute banger btw, and really got into them like 3-4 months ago, now i cant stop listening to this record, so many hits imo, such as 'All The Ever Mattered', '3am', 'Now I'm In It' to name a few

Honestly, the song to me strongly resembles "Coyote".

That's the first thing that crossed my mind.

They blend it all so well it sounds new. They’ve gone everywhere from Bowie and Fleetwood Mac to Joni and Nirvana, thrown them in a blender and picked out the best parts. Not a dig, just an observation of their catholic immersion in music. Damn, D is killing it in the drums in Gasoline!
