Sorry for the late reply I just saw this but. I recently started wearing wigs in the last couple months, So I can give you a much more informed response today. I would say I definitely encourage you to skip the topper step if you haven’t purchased a topper already! I really tried to minimize the use of Clips with my topper but I always still had to use at least two clips. With my wig I wear none! Just a wig grip. Wigs seem very daunting at first and the topper can seem like a less intense but the reality is there is just at getting used to it period. toppers do soften that transition but it is definitely not necessary. You are strong and able! We all are! And now that I have worn a wig it is not scary at all! Would love to hear what you decided to do!!!

leleiskindofcool because you want to feel confident in your piece, I would say you would be better off with a smaller cap size then. (Assuming you don’t have extensive hair loss, because if you did, in my experience one needs a larger cap size the more advanced the hair loss is, like mine). The larger cap size to me does feel like it sits better on the head but the smaller ones didn’t feel like they were going to fall off at all. Another option is to get a larger cap but then have a stylist thin it out but personally I haven’t done that. I also would be a worried it would not turn out right. You could look into a hand tied topper instead of a wefted back topper, they are supposed to be a lighter density. Hope this helps!

@@althairbish Thanks for the reply :). My hair loss is very evenly distributed, just have very thin hair with a feather-like texture. That's why your topper grip suggestion was lifesaver. A bigger topper would look better for sure, but I'm worried about suddenly showing up with great hair lol ! Please share the tragic story of your first topper. I think we all end up losing money when we first start off with toppers. When I took my only and first topper to a stylist to color match, they stained the silk! I even had them watch the Highline tutorial on KZfaq. Oh well, it's not horrible--depends how I part it. But with things like this, some painful trial and error comes with the territory.

leleiskindofcool I totally get that, we want to be incognito! It sometimes really is a lot of trial and error, which is why I think it’s so important to share what we learn! Ugh I’m sorry to hear a stylist stained your topper but it’s a good thing that it could be made to be unnoticeable. If you by some chance live near Chicago, Pearls Of Chicago carries Highline pieces that you could try on to give you a better idea of sizing. I’ve been wanting to share my first topper story forever so I will get on that when I can!

Lula Bella i don’t really have any recommendations for the heat beyond putting it in a low side pony.. I honestly don’t get too hot from it so I’ve never really experimented with it but a low side pony or braid to keep the hair out of the way on a hot day does help me!

lula you are not alone... you'd think living in a big city as austin texas you'd find a place to go in and ask questions but nope... it gets hell hot here. try low density, lace/silk.

Lace fronts are equally as difficult to work with as those pesky silk front cut off points where it's noticeable. My European hair topper is 😍and I like my Jean Renau topper but it's so shiny even after multiple washings🙄
