Horse hair worms don’t make the insect host climb to a high place, those are cordyceps. The worms in this video make their hosts go into the water and drown themselves, because the worms need to be in the water to breed and complete their lifecycle.

I'm interested, how does a horse hair worm do that, like direct another creature and all go do that to themselves?
@That_OneRandomGuy5 ай бұрын
Exactly, I don't understand why the guy would put how cordyceps works when it's clear even in the video that the worms come out once in contact with the water. Also, explaination for those who are interested and don't know, cordyceps takes control over an ant's body via fungine filaments (not controlling the brain) and making them scale up a plant at a certain height (once completely in control). Here, it will make the ant bite down on the fiber of the plant and stay still. After some time it will kill the ant completely and then sprout filaments from its body. Then it will release spores in the air. It will, in fact, go at a certain height above an anthill, to try to make sure to have new hosts and spread.

Ephesians 6:10-18 says, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless.❤

What does the water do
@amandac88366 ай бұрын
@@nikkibb1998 I think it’s because that’s how they reproduce, in the wild they somehow make the mantis (or other infected bug) move towards water to drown it. Then they wriggle out to lay eggs and infect a new host. I could be wrong but that’s what I remember from a documentary I saw years ago.

I remember seeing a mantis with one of these on a field trip in school. The other kids said, “There’s a worm coming out of it.” The teachers told the kids if they step on it, they’d be flipping their cards to red (automatic suspension) but now that I think of it, stepping on it would’ve been merciful. We just didn’t know what it was at the time.

@Icepiq725 ай бұрын
The part at the end is incorrect. The worms enter a bug that eats it as a larcae and it grows inside the bug. The bug if often eaten by a praying mantis, but not always. Once the parasite matures it'll take control of the bug's brain and guide it to water where the bug will drown and the parasite can breed and lay some more eggs for another bug to eat
