360Jeezy the cut is definitely not bad, this is one of the harder cuts to do but to make it easy on yourself id suggest starting a 3 fade top - down to the skin and the clipper overcomb up (for easier clipper over comb i suggest johnny b fading comb or the suavecito one) it definitely makes it, but apart from that it was pretty good 👌

replying to myself but shear work when you do that left side stand in front and keep your fingers angled itll help on that blend or split it down the middle and section it, itll reduce your time

360Jeezy 2 ways I would start this haircut. Either 1 1/2 slightly above temple to remove bulk with a slight drop in the back. Or clipper over comb to build a shape. Secondly, I would cut the top and then, depending on how thick the hair is add moose or jhonny b gel to mold the hair and then blowdry in. Easier to vision the haircut

Brown hair or lighter colour hair can be difficult , I struggle with shear work , but once I force myself to take my time and take 3 sections (back to front) then cross check from the side it works out . You have an excellent way of methodical thinking when it comes to the clippers , the same could be applied to the shear work , love all your vids and have never seen you do a bad cut!

A little tip, mate. With thick straight hair, when you're using clipper over comb on the side that it's styled over to, it can be easy to leave a step ( which you left a little bit of, also a bit at the back) because of the differentiation of length and thickness. You can get around this two ways, scissor over comb going from down to up where the step is only in a quick motion ( to keep the hair as level as possible) or in your case as someone who seems a little scared of scissor and comb you can use a little " cheat" technique where you hit the step with some thinning shears/scissors. Thinks of the latter as a scissor technique equivalent of taking a longer line out of a fade. Other then that, perfect fade as usual and on a hair type it's not easy to do on. Mad respect for that. I personally wouldn't have lined him up like that at the front and not done a c cup. A parting is a very traditional haircut and I think natural looks much better.

I'm a barber stylist and we do a lot of these comb over styles in the shop. When attacking the round of the head to get a nice blended transition into that length on top from the fade on the sides, we use feather razors over our Andis clipper combs. So after you've already already cut the hair with your shears you can go back through with a feather razor in the areas you feel need more blending. It's almost like when using a grater to grate, let's say, cheese. The feather razor is the cheese. The grater is your comb. Hope that makes sense. Have a good day!

I think you are one of the very best barbers when it comes to clipper work. But not all hair cuts can be perfected with clippers alone. As a barber from the uk, I get a lot of these types of haircuts. With your shear work, start at the crown, working forward in ½ inch sections right through the middle, over directing as you near the front, where you want it longer. Then, using the same technique, connect the sides to the middle. Then cross check with side on sections. Also, if you'd run the thinning scissors through the very ends of the hair, and go through the sides with thinners over comb, then the top would of blended seamlessly into the sides. Not criticism, just helpful advice from one barber to another. You certainly help and continue to help with my clippering technique, so I feel I can return the favour with a little help of my own. Peace ✌️

sag2974 this is great advice! I wonder why Jeezy didn't comment on this one being that he asked for scissor advice?!? Agree about the thinning shears. They blend the top to the sides so easily make the blend look that much better. I wish jeezy would add that to his repertoire

Thanks my brother for making these videos! I work in a multicultural shop and we have all different races that give us business. I can fade really well but I was having difficulty using shears , I hadn't needed them since I graduated barber school. I previously worked in predominately AA shops. You are a lifesaver and I've been implementing your techniques and they've increased my revenue! God bless you brother and may He prosper you for taking time out to help fellow barbers. Salute

Thank you for your wonderful videos. I have been watching your vids for about the last 2 hours. I started cutting my sons hair recently and while it doesn't look like a "mom cut" it could look way WAY better where the fading is concerned and you have taught me so much in the last few hours. Guidelines and good gear. The two things I was lacking. This guys hair is almost exactly like my sons so this video is GREAT. Thanks again!

As for cutting the top (or "shear work"), cut the front section that you pulled out first, then using that as a guide, cut a mohawk section and then use that mohawk and the front as your guides to cut the sides and back. It works every time and is a lot easier. Thanks for the videos! They're extremely helpful for a cosmetologist trying to improve her men's haircuts :-)

What up Jeezy!!! This is Yoski from Memphis TN. I believe the most knowledgeable barber for shear work and styling on KZfaq is MC Barber. He knows his stuff as far as different type of shears and angles to cut. He styles his cuts with the blow dryer on medium heat and medium speed. He also does razor styling and cutting down bulk with a razor. check him out.

Good looking cut! As for the shear work: - Place your ring finger, not your pinky in the hole. Your pinky should be placed on the tang for leverage. Sam Villa and Free Salon education has good basic vids about shear use - Clean sections are also important. Avoid grabbing the hair in bulk. Section and cut in half inch segments for precision. Similar concept to using clean guidelines during your clipper use. Keep up the content! Loving it!

I´m not a barber, but I know how to cut hair, so I´m gonna lend you a tip, k ? when cutting the top with shears, do some texture work (cut off the tips of some hair strains a little bit shorter in few places, so every hair won´t be the same lenght, thus allowing the client for easier styling) by "club cutting" or by using thinning shears, also, when blowdrying, make sure to "break it up" a little by scratching a rubbing the hair with your hand, and blowdry the hair in the opposite direction for a little moment to give the client more volume

Its Gio unless you have a big widows peak or high hairline, I wouldnt recommend getting a lineup, especially those dudes with long straight hair who get lineups and they have like half an inch or even an inch of short hairs that are lined up. It just looks stupid tbh. Check out Cameron Cretney on here, he gets skin fades all the time, and try to tell me he would look fresh with a lineup 😂.
