I went to nursing school with a girl from Haiti, and I mean from like fresh from there only in America for a year. Her dorm room was next to mine and we were in the same classes. She spoke great English but we both spoke French too, and were the only ones at our school who did. I actually had a Haitian French teacher when I was younger. She loved to come and chat with me after classes, and it made for an interesting group because most of my other friends were Hispanic, which I'm also conversational with. And then my roommates were Ethiopian and spoke Amharic which none of the rest of us knew. So on most nights there'd be 10-15 of us in one room speaking 4 languages and all translating for each other and learning new things. I do really miss that time! If the people of Haiti in general are anything like my friend Rose, I know it's an amazing place! 💚

This was right on time. My daughter and I were talking about visiting today. I’ve been wanting to go to Haiti forever. My dad is Haitian and passed away in 2019. He left Haiti at 17 and never went back. I want to spread some of his ashes in Haiti. Any advice you can give on hotels, tour guides, etc., would be appreciated. This is my dream.

Haiti looks like a West African country that drifted away from the continent slowly. You wouldn't think that you aren't in West Africa. It's weirdly soothing to see familiarity that far.

Yes! Cuba is open, You need to be vaccinated and take a COVID test 48hrs before I believe but not all airlines fly to cuba VERY VERY few airlines fly over there but yes you can go!! I promise you you’ll love it cuban people are super welcoming and sweet! I love going back home it’s a disconnect I will warn you that there’s no wifi throughout cuba but most hotels do offer wifi I believe!
