Hajiya Safiya Yusuf Mani was the first wife of President Muhammadu Buhari before he married his current wife, Hajiya Aisha Muhammadu Buhari1. She was born in December 1952 in Mani LGA, in Katsina State. She married President Buhari in December 1971 when she was 18 years old1. She had five children with him: Zulaihatu, Fatima, Musa, Nana Hadiza and Safina1. She died in 2006 from complications of diabetes.
