Funny how Joel embiid upped his game to become as good as he is using those “old ass post moves.” There is no such thing as old ass moves. All the moves used today are just old moves with more steps to it. Just because u advanced the mover at doesn’t mean the old one is any less effective. Tim Duncan showed you that, jokic shows u that, melo showed u that, etc. Gil always talks that Kobe was a god talk but then talks dumb shit like this. Kobe was watching and LEARNING the old basic moves of guys like jerry west, Oscar Robertson, Hakeem, jordan, etc and applying them to his game. And they worked just fine in the modern era. Not everything needs to be hesi tween step back 3s. A simple jab step, head fake or ball fake works just as well. A simple crossover works just as well as all that extra shit kyrie and harden be doing. Some of these players can’t be taken serious because as much as they play the game, they don’t know shit about the game. Bunch of smart dummies. Those old as post moves would’ve won team USA the gold this year cause someone that plays like that was exactly what they were missing. Instead u had these new age bigmen like JJJ, getting 3 rebounds and standing outside the three point line scared to put his back to the basket and not having any go to if the shot ain’t falling. U replace JJJ with 2014 Tim Duncan and tell me the results wouldn’t be different.

I think Hakeem could be a top 5 big man in todays league, but Gil does make a good point. It’s two completely diff play styles. @glcsander10 ай бұрын
Embiid has showed that the footwork works in today NBA before he fell in love with 3s, there are multiple highlights of him putting big man's in torture chamber with the shake, up and unders and he can always face up just like Hakeem did.
@bazar202110 ай бұрын
@@glcsander that’s a fact. Post moves can still be effective they just take time off the clock and wouldn’t be as needed with the changes to foul calls. Embiid is one of the big men in today’s league that would be able to somewhat guard him too. IMO Embiid’s drawback is his decision making. He doesn’t read the defense well so he tries to put up some bad shots in the post in important games. If Embiid learns how to select his shots better, read the defense better, and just pass sometimes out to the open man then they could have a realistic chance at a title. They have a lot of good pieces just have to get past the James Harden hurdle.
