We set our Hakki Pilke 35 up on 6” wood blocks for ease of cleaning under it.

Really interesting to see what happens before we get the logs. I always think a bit of Ash is nice. It splits well

I have a pro 38 that had the same characteristic of debris buildup at the base of the conveyor. The solution that aids is to set the processor on concrete cottage blocks. That raises the machine off the ground so you can allow a little more time before you rake it out. Still a manual solution but it allows for a rake to get in there. I love my machine as you probably do. One thing I did immediately was remove the safety stuff off the chute to allow access easily. It also stops any split wood buildup before it hits the conveyor. Cheers mate!

@@uckhamlads I've been thinking hard about any possible dilemma you'll be facing with regard to wood heat ban in the UK. Is that proposal for the cities or country wide?

@@grahamditchfield4318 i do believe in the end it will be country wide, im not sure how they would ever police it other than making it very hard for us suppliers.

It appears you customers like their firewood at 30 to 35 cm long. Over in North America 40cm (16") is the standard length for firewood. I've seem other Hakki Pilke processors run (Raven 33) and they appear to cut faster. So either your chain is dull or you could run your tractor PTO at a high RPM to get more cutting speed out it.

Out of interest what wood are they cutting in North America?
@bwillan
@bwillan Жыл бұрын
@@uckhamlads Over here what gets cut depends on the area you're located in. For hardwoods, it's mainly oak (all varieties), ash, maple (soft, hard), elm, cherry, hickory, beech, birch, locust, poplar. For softwoods, it's all varietys of pine, fir, spruce. Any wood will burn, you're just looking for the most dense wood as that will have greatest heat output for a given volume of firewood.

@bwillan thankyou very much for the insight! Much appreciated! Over here down in the south east its frowned upon to burn anything other than hardwood. Everyone is told that softwood causes so much soot and tar in the chimney. Im constantly trying to explain that any wood can cause that, especially on these fires that you can close down so much that the log just smoulders!
@bwillan
@bwillan Жыл бұрын
@@uckhamlads The western parts of Canada and the USA have mostly softwood trees. So that is what is used for firewood. If you look at firewood BTU charts Douglas Fir has much BTU output as many hardwood do. What causes soot and tar in a chimney more has to do with how dry the firewood is and at what temperature it is burning at. Just like you said, damping the stove way down cause more creosote whether or not your burning a hardwood vs a softwood.
