My first wireless router is sitting closet, WAP54a, thank you linksys for crappy BSOD drivers for the cards that went with it, made it the biggest headache in wireless I ever had. Ran great as long as you could keep them running.

@supercoolguyT thanks for the idea. Our friend Robin Wood is a huge fan of Arch. If we were to cover Arch it would have to be something specific about it that sets it apart from the rest of the distros out there. What would you say are the top features to look at? Digininja really likes the package manager. What else? Hope you're enjoying the fundamentals part of this series. :)

It's channel 14, however.. I think that going by the first comment isn't that great of a practice. Just my 2 cents. Channel 14 is nice to use, though, when in a wifi-rich environment. If you have the right adapter, you can switch the regulatory domain to TELEC (Japan) and have access to channel 14 which doesn't overlap with 11, or even 13. My favorite adapter for this, is of course any from Alfa Network, specifically the AWUS036H, even under windows you can change the regulatory domain.

Loved it, can't wait till the next part!! In the end I don't really care about cracking the wifi as much as I enjoy just learning about it, and all things network related! Again, good job and keep it coming!! P.s. Wut, no white board??

~2.4835GHz or 'Channel 14' is unique to Japan Majority of 'the Americas' limit channels to 1-11 (while EU allows 1-13 though before rationalised continentally channel availability varied in the high ranges)

@zomgl0l I agree on both counts. Choosing the first comment isn't going to work, so for this one I'll choose pseudorandomly. Maybe I'll write a program to do it! :) As for the Alfa, I wholeheartedly agree. The 8187L is a superb chipset.

@Hak5Darren Well I really didn't want to hear anything about OS when wifi is involved. You can study networking and wireless independently. You said you will be discussing wifi with Linux. I've cracked wifi with Linux before but If you are going to include OS might as well discuss windows for a bigger audience, I don't know if that will destroy your subscriber base though.
