HAL Koningsdam Embarkation Day!!! | Solo Travel | Holland America Cruise VLOG

Hello Travelers,
I boarded the Holland America Cruiseline’s Koningsdam on September 10, 2022. This video shows the embarkation process as well as the first day of the cruise.
I booked an airport transfer through Holland America, and since my pre-cruise hotel was in the airport, it was just a matter of checking out of my hotel and heading down to the arrivals floor. There was a rep walking around with a sign for both Princess and HAL, so I followed him to the busses. They had separate lines and busses and it was a simple matter of getting on the bus going to the Koningsdam in Canada Place.
We got off the bus, and the checkin process was overly complicated. There were several stops that seemed to duplicate themselves but I eventually made it through all of them and onto the ship.
I headed up to the pizza place and got some lunch. Then I went and dropped my bags off at my cabin.
Dinner was in the main dining room, and then I spent some time enjoying the blues club on board. It was a great start to the cruise!

It really was in this case. Sometimes there are long lines and it helps, but sometimes it doesn't make much difference. Since it doesn't cost anything and the process isn't too bad, I think it is worth doing.

So glad I happened upon your video. Was thinking about doing this cruise out of Vancouver...not now. What a bunch of BS: masks, shots, line after line, showing the same paperwork a hundred times...no thank you. I'll stick with sailing out of Seattle.

Wonderful and informative video. I am on the konigsdam un july to alaska via Vancouver. At Canada place dud you see any signs or anything for priority boarding for Club orange members. I never noticed and sugns for this andsince u oaid extra for club orange i want to take advantage of the benefits. When you get a minute can you please let me know. Thanks

Yes actually, if you look closely, there are three queues. I went to the VeriFly on the far left. The Priority Check in sign for the middle queue actually lists Club Orange, so there is a dedicated check in line for you.

With all of this walking my late wife would have needed a wheelchair for sure. Don't think I would go much to the Blue's Club. Where was your departure port? I like watching the video for the safety drill then checking in at muster station. Of course, you are going to Alaska. Like sea days.

Yeah, it is amazing how many steps I get in on my cruises! We departed from Vancouver's Canada Place this time. It's such a pretty port.

No, most of the lines have dropped that requirement unless it is something the port mandates.

It matters which nation you embark/disembark and visit. They can all have different rules. Most places have stopped the mask mandate and Covid pre-cruise (or even during the cruise) testing. The line's website should have all the information you need for where you are looking at visiting. I don't have any HAL cruises booked this year, so I haven't researched them for this year, but all of the line websites should have something to let you know. But it is largely not a thing anymore.
