I see one inconsistency. The Halal dietary Laws are almost identical to the Jewish Kosher Laws! I believe that, at least with mammals, Both the Quran and the T'nakh(Old Testament) requires that the animal must have a cloven(split) hoof and chew the cud! Donkeys are Haram and Horses are Halal? Makes no sense. I do know that some Muslims are okay with Shellfish, Mollusks etc. I've spoken to other Muslims who told me that if it comes from the sea, it must have Scales and Fins just as the Jewish laws state!

Horse is Halal.. Prophet Mohamed peace of Allah upon him ate horse meat. فعن جابر بن عبد الله رضي الله عنهما قال : ( نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم خيبر عن لحوم الحمر الأهلية ورخص في الخيل ) رواه البخاري (3982) ومسلم (1941) . وعن أسماء بنت أبي بكر رضي الله عنهما قالت : ( نحَرْنا على عهد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فرساً فأكلناه ) رواه البخاري (5191) ومسلم (1942) .
