Please put your fishes in spacious tanks that they will be comfortable in, not cramped, small tanks. And I'm so glad the sheikh mentioned children abusing the animals because some people don't take action when their kids torment pets either out of childish ignorance or for "fun".

Do not buy birds to then release them, all you are doing is feeding the local cats. If you get birds, let them fly around your house and have fun dont keep them in a small cage 24/7 AND do not isolate them, keep them in pairs and make sure they get along.

Alhamdulillah thank u for the clarification….. i have a conure, crow, 2 mynas n a kingfisher… except for the conure, all the rest are rescued. Almost everyday if weather permits i bring them out n let them fly around or do watever it is they want. By sunset all of em would come back to me n follow me back home. One of the myna will join the wild ones n come home by itself the next day or wait for me at our usual spot.

Allah has given each animal its own habitat and it’s own food sources. Who are we to keep them in a cage or a tank and feed them. If a cat is eating the birds that we freed that is because Allah made it that way. If you think about a human in place of it you would feel different. Imagine someone kept you in a 4bhk house with all kinds of food but you are not allowed to leave the house. How would you feel about that. Or think about the Covid times, the lockdown, the quarantine, not being able to go out to places we want, not being able to meet our friends and family. How did it feel? Animals too have their own community. Keeping animals in a cage IS WRONG. They don’t willingly come to live in a cage in our houses but rather people capture them. If you try to catch them they will fly, run or swim away from you. One of my neighbours kept a bird in cage for 19 years and in the end that bird died in a cage. How sad is that. And about the plants feeling bad. Do they try to run away no. Because Allah made it that way. If walking on grass was so bad he would have given us another alternative. This is really stupid.

Sheikh! Perhaps the meaning of the question that the brother asked was not clear. In fact, here in Pakistan, some people catch free sparrows by setting nets and then stand on the roadside and sell these sparrows, and people buy and free these sparrows for charity. So is doing this a reward as the sparrows were captured wrongly? And should not these sparrows be free??

So much informative for the pet lovers. And I have a question that can we do cross breed among birds and animals as nowadays the much more varieties of breeding coming into exist?

Some people need to understand the difference. Sheikh said it is not haram. For haram you need evidence from Quran & Hadith. However, from a moral point of view I would also agree. I'd not keep any animal confined to a small space like a cage. It's against the animal's nature to just walk around a few centimetre and not fly

I agree it is sadistic. I am by nature always saddened to see anything caged . It is life imprisonment for no reason whatsoever. ALLAH created everything to be free. It is a cruel practice.

I have a cat, and live in a citty almost no green only cars…in the summer the cat wil sit on the balkon togeter whit a ohter cat..in sha Allah i het a house whit a big garden…but the imam is right !!!! Always when i come home she is waiting in front of the door she hears my car from a mile away…and the i come inside and thinking (Subhana ALLAH look what Allah created) an animal thats waiting for you….and everytime she comes asks for food or want to play…i think about Allah and the creation of Allah so different but the “same”

Salam Alaikum wa Rabmatullah, To be honest to myself brother Hakeem is very knowledgeable because I always told myself if I free my birds this will definitely will be their end because by freeing my pet birds other birds or animals can eat them instead of doing the right thing I will be doing a wrong disaster thing to them.

But the Quran says birds worship Allah by flying and spreading their wings, keeping them in cages is equivalent to preventing a creature from worshipping Allah for your personal satisfaction.

I am just saying that in the starting of the video Shaikh has given the full lecture on not to give our own conclusion/ judgement without basing them on quran and hadith. Sheikh has a very simplistic view on this matter. Some birds are domesticated for example a chicken but some birds are wild and exotic. For example the Andean Condor has a wing span of 12 feet. It was designed to soar in the skies all day. Locking it up in a cage is beyond doubt torture. Besides is there any Hadith where our prophet locked up wild birds in cages? Moreover in surah Maida Allah speaks about hunting animals for your own consumption and to slaughter them in the name of Allah.

The mentioned narration doesn’t argument that any bird or animal is permissible to kept as a pet. As that was not practised by Prophet صلی اللّٰہ علیہ وسلم or by Companions رضوان اللّٰہ علیہ اجمعین. Only those animals and birds are familiarly permissible to be kept who benefit human. It has become a fun and source of show off by keeping expensive animals and birds of no use.

Hi, I've rescued a sparrow bird today from my garage. It was trapped inside a cycle. So I bought it home & gave the bird some rice & water to eat. He is very small & can't fly yet & can't make any chirping sound. He also can't eat by himself. I handfeeded him with a syringe. I'm very scared of what to do to keep him alive. Also if it's Haram or halal to keep it? Please give me suggestions!

Each and every creature on this earth requires its own required space or territory to live within be it a Bird or animal on earth or inside the water according to its required habitual biome which many a times humans deprive to give them which is called privacy space of living

Sheikh, respectfully, I do not agree. I believe your argument is wrong on this point. The hadith quoted does not imply that the boy's bird was in cage. It only mentions 'pet bird'. Now you will say that how can you keep a bird without a cage. Pet birds can be without a cage as well. I have seen, and you can research yourself as well. People have birds who are not in cages. It is the level of trust and bonding between thr animal and human that makes it possible. If you keep a bird which is caged that would mean that you do not have a bond with the animal and it would fly away if you leave it open. Meaning it is not tamed and not your pet and is being kept against it's own will. Do birds need big area by nature, to fly? Yes. Can birds be kept without cages? Yes. Which birds would die if you take them out of a cage? None. There is only a risk that the ones which you would have captured from another place/climate and all of a sudden you leave them out, then out of fear or out of confusion or because the environment is not suitable to them, etc, they could meet bad fate. Whereas if we leave the birds where they naturally are, then they will remain safe. So since there is no hadith or ayat indicating about keeping caged animals (afaik), i strongly believe that keeping animals in cages is cruelty and should not be done.

I got parrot and i take care him very well. New toy's every 6 or 8 months Every day, more than 7 or 8 times clean his pee And make sure i spend my time with him

People buying birds to set them free would only encourage hunters or breeders to sell more, that's if for example they were pigeons that would basically live everywhere.

God is merciful and loving to all creatures and his creation and he doesnt like the oppressors or people who torture or harm. So its very simple, you should only get a pet if you can take care of them and make sure they are happy.

Allah made things free and when i capture them. Yes, i am sinful. As its made to fly and chirp, not caged.

I used to have 15 to 16 birds and I only bought 5 but later they grew up to the rest and I had a cage as big as a large sofa ..but my mother always says that free them. birds curse their owner for keeping them in cage 😅 ...but now I know that they never did curse me atleast for keeping them in cage
