Both poetic and idiotic that Earth placed their faith in a single bonafide man to save them from an alien force that conquers planets.
@bruhyeet5137 Жыл бұрын
@@theotv5522 I'm surely Dr. Breen is a smart character in HL2, although everybody look him like a clown but whatever. He know that Universal Union are not small like it own name, he smart enough to understand there are almost no chance for Human to uprising against a race that have both firepower and telekinesis strength are strong enough to conquered a planet after 7 hours of conflict. Dr. Breen might have seen a small part of Synth Armies. Look how Gordon Freeman struggling to kill a Strider even in Easy mode in the gameplay, if the developer decide to add those cut enemies into the game we're called Legend, I think just a Combine Super Soldier is enough to handle Gordon.
@LordVader1094 Жыл бұрын
@@theotv5522 Freeman is a symbol, and while a powerful asset is not the only reason the Resistance succeeded. It took 20 years of blood, sweat, and tears for Freeman to be placed at the right place for success. If not for all that effort and sacrifice by Eli, Kleiner, Alyx, Barney, and everyone else on Earth for all those years, G-Man would've never decided to put Freeman back into action. Quite poetically, it was the hope in the symbol of Freeman and the Lambda Team that enabled humanity to keep resisting and manifested the future that allowed him to return at all.
@LordVader1094 Жыл бұрын
@@bruhyeet5137 The thing is, humanity doesn't need to beat the entire Combine. All they need to do is make Earth not worth holding, and the Combine will leave. Especially since by the end of Episode 2, you've stopped them from being able to bring in a force like the one in the 7 Hour War, meaning there's a high chance Earth can make it where the Combine has little interest in spending the resources to return and wipe them out.

@Vandoorea A dark frozen flat stretches out to the horizon. Dunes of snow and ice dot the landscape. The somber silence only broken by the odd howl of the wind, and the footfalls of two figures walking upon the massive span of ice. One is small, clad in a grey snow-caked parka, a long scarf masks their face. The other, tall, almost completely covered in frozen snow. Hints of orange and black metal peek out through the coating. Their face covered completely by a helmet. A muffled voice comes from the tall figure. "Auxiliary power at *TWENTY-TWO* percent. *bzt* Suit artificial climate may be compromised." "We need to hurry Gordon" says the small figure. A radio crackles on the small figures shoulder "Barney, is this thing on? Oh! Ehem, Alyx, you should be nearing the Borealis. It should be about 1 kilometer to your north-east! Are you receiving?" "Yes Dr. Kleiner" says Alyx, rolling her eyes. This was the third time the good doctor had checked in since the last half kilometer. "Come on Gordon." Gordon glances at Alyx and nods. "You've always been a man of few words Gordon." Alyx smiles under her scarf. She had only heard Gordon speak a few short times since she had met him back at City 17, running from Civil Protection. A faint mumble here, a yes or no there. At least he was a good listener. Suddenly a humming noise slowly grows in the silence, growing louder and louder. Gordon points in the direction of the sound towards the horizon. "Combine!" shouts Alyx. 3 snowmobiles carrying two combine foot-soldiers each speed towards Alyx and Gordon. Gordon slips a rifle off his shoulder and opens fire on the group as Alyx pulls a pistol from a holster and dives behind a nearby ice-dune. One of the shots from Gordon hits the driver of one snowmobile in the chest, causing them to jerk back and off the vehicle, already dead before they hit the ice. The steering bar jolts and the snowmobile swerved to the side, flipping over and killing the passenger. Throwing the empty rifle aside, Gordon grabs a strange device clipped onto his back, and steps behind the same ice-dune as Alyx. Alyx, quickly firing her pistol, manages to hit a passenger in the head. Now weary of these two armed figures, the Combine soldiers stop their vehicles and dismount behind them, firing at the dune. As two of the now 3 soldier left reloads, Gordon steps out from behind the dune and points the strange glowing-blue contraption at one of the snowmobiles. A beam of blue energy shoots out to the snowmobile, and as if gravity had suddenly failed, it rose into the air. Alyx jumps over the dune and fires at the shocked Combine soldier that had until recently been hiding behind the now floating snowmobile, a series of bullets smack into the soldier, and he falls to the ground, a puddle of blood slowly growing beneath them. Suddenly the floating snowmobile darts towards the Combine hiding behind the other vehicle and smashes into them, crushing them into the icy ground. Gordon glances wearily around looking for other approaching Combine, but the chilling silence is unbroken. Alyx approaches the remaining snowmobile, examining it. "Looks like it's still functioning" she shouts to Gordon. She mounts the vehicle and beckons for Gordon to get on. ~15 minutes later~ A dim grey light illuminates the now foggy frozen landscape. The snowmobile rumbles, sputters, and dies. The pair dismounts the vehicle. Gordon whacks it with his faithful crowbar, but unfortunately percussive maintenance is unsuccessful. The pair slowly walks away from the now useless object. "Look!" says Alyx, pointing at a large shadow in the fog. The pair jogs towards it, and the shadow takes form. It is the bow of a large ship. Slowly a scratched up white name emerges from the fog. *BOREALIS*

Triage At Dawn is my favorite song in the soundtrack. It so succinctly captures Gordon Freeman's situation in the first dozen or so many seconds. It feels cynical but self aware of it's uselessness, like it proclaims hopelessness but urges the player that they can not dwell on it, that they have to keep moving because, in spite of any reasonable evaluation of the situation, the last word has not been spoken, Gordon still lives, he is in good company, and the way forward is in view.

This song needs to play as the finale to the series. I could see so many amazing visual elements culminating to the style of the music, then at about 4 and a half minutes or so in, we fade to credits and just listen to the music. *Apparently, I am not creative, as I also see other people saying the same thing. Welp, I may not have said it first, but that just shows how amazing this remix is.

They're both really good, and the best part is they translate different feelings, which makes them unique.

Not really. It's quite obvious that Vandoorea took some inspirations from Path of Borealis. (Not that I wish to imply this remix was any worse xD)
@arvid75626 жыл бұрын
In my opinion I definitely *DO NOT* agree. This is just some random remix of it that's pretty good, but far away from being better than the original.

This song reminds us that Half-Life is still alive, Half-Life 1 & 2 are still played. Gmod also keeps Half-Life 2 alive as well as Half-Life 1 as would you believe it. There are some quite popular Half-life 1 mods like Player models, Maps, game modes and much, much more!

The storm above what is left of the dark fusion reactor, the raging fires destroying what was once "one of our finest remaining urban centers" and the adviser pods fleeing the towering citadel in fear of the inevitable energy flare, only for the super portal to be destroyed, and the fate of the series left unknown, as the once great VALVe, sits closed, waiting for something unknown to us.
