This takes place between Half-Life and Half-Life 2 and will be playable on SteamVR compatible hardware: Valve Index, Vive, Oculus, and Windows MR (Mixed Reality)

This is certainly the highest profile VR game announced. There's games Like Stormland, Asgards Wrath and Lone Echo which are Amazing. Medal of Honor VR coming out around the same time as This too.

I remember reading somewhere that they didn’t want to make another Half Life game until they had something revolutionary. I remember thinking that they’d probably do one in VR when the tech was ready. I guess it’s finally ready.

I think, despite this being a full half life side story game, they are just testing the waters to see if it's feesible to release a full vr game at this time before they start even considering putting effort, time, and money into half life 3
