The style definitely seems to young for the client.

After all that work it should be for a lot longer than just one event

If someone‘s hair grows much faster, then the braids do not last long. The smaller the braids, the longer they last. The hair type matters too. Some people‘s hair is stronger and it does not break easily. Such people can wear braids for much longer time, but people with soft hair may not wear braids for longer than 6 weeks. The braids do not normally cause headaches, but if they are so tight the skin may hurt especially when some is laying down, as in sleeping!

I am a braider by heart. To answer your questions...(1) you can wear this as long as you'd like, 2-4 weeks or longer...but it also depends on: a lot of new growth, if your head can no longer take the pain, or if you want something better at anytime. (2) Pain comes with the territory when it has to do with braids, sew ins, etc...due to pulling, stretching, & the heavy-handed-ness of your braider. Some hair loss can occur especially, if you've always had brittle hair, but a lot of twists & turns can affect it also. If your very tender headed, don't like to sit for long periods of times, or a viewer (not a doer) then you might not want to have this done. All in all, you're right she did a good job...we braiders got mad skills lol.
