Webkinz actually announced they won’t be making anymore plushies anymore as of last month. The website and stuff is very much alive but you can only buy them in the form of a virtual pet.

I remember going to this mall for back to school clothes back when the KB Toys was still there. I have not been back to this mall for many years, but I remember the last time it was pretty dead, and most shops were already gone. Sad to see really.

Slightly off topic, but I caught Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure a few days ago. The scenes shot at Metrocenter bum me out, knowing what Metrocenter has become. I remember when the mall opened in 1973, it was the place to be. Going to Metrocenter was a big deal, now it's dead.

Hey. Thanks for poking around in that antique shop. I love antique stores, even when I don't intend to buy something. I dig the whole cigar and liquor mention. I like dark ales too, but also American beer.

I used to be a regular at this mall, when I wasn't at Fiesta Mall. I always bought my work clothes at the VF factory outlet, & looked around at the KB Toy Liquidators store. You could always find great deals.

Seeing that Garfield phone reminded me of that story i read about how for many years Garfield phones would wash up on a French beach and nobody knew where they were coming from until someone found out where they were coming from. It was a shipping container that had crashed into a secluded sea cave only accessible when the tide was low. Who knows when the pieces of Garfield phones will stop washing up on to the beach.

The coin operated rides are my favorite memory of this place too! One summer I babysat my young cousins and we brought a big of change to Power Mall and played on all the rides, which at the time, we’re in a big cluster in front of VF. So so fun! Being from Mesa, I did lots of back-to-school shopping at VF. It’ll be a sad day if/when this place completely closes.

They did something similar with Laguna Hills Mall. The part you checked out in your video is still there, but they tore down the Sears anchor all the way to what used to be the middle and hadn't replaced it as of six months ago. Not much is left, as even the bookstore was leaving when I checked back then.

We were the original Swensens. Then after 7 years became Creative Ice Cream. From 1986 until 2005. A lot going on at that time, always new owners and problems. We opened the Apple Dumpling Cafe, sold in December 2013, then went back to the mall under the Gala Apple so we could have a commercial kitchen for our catering. But when they decided to to do the Storage facility. When all the stores left, we lost 65% of our business. We saw the writing on the wall. Left June 1st to continue our catering of Ice Cream and Food. Our Catering is still under Creative Ice Cream and Events. Of course, the Library will probably be gone due to the flooding from the rain and a leaky roof. Always enjoy your videos of other malls. Until recently, we always enjoyed being there as a tenant. A lot of great relationships with other tenanats.

To answer what you were curious about: I opened all of my boxes of Spice Girls dolls back in the day haha. From what I remember, the doll you filmed (Ginger) was the rarest at the time because she quit the group, and I would think even more people didn't open that one. Anyways, super interesting and great video as always!

Growing up in the Midwest, I remember many of the same kiddie rides, in our enclosed malls. We had the Puzzle Box & Circus World for toy stores, as well as the R/C Car Section of Radio Shack (I drove the poor salesmen nuts as a kid :p). Waldenbooks & Book World were good places to find the latest comic books. Karmel Corn & Famous Corn Dogs fed the inner munchie in us, along with an Orange Julius to wash it all down. Reflecting back, we were fortunate to have had 4 enclosed shopping malls within 15-20 minutes of our neighborhood. Two of my first jobs were at one... Bergners & Radio Shack, now both gone. Today, only one of the original four malls remains. So sad how things have changed with consumer market place.

There was a VF Factory Outlet center that looks exactly like this one in Draper, Utah. VF closed a few years ago and that was the last national retailer in the complex. Part of the mall has been turned into a All Star Bowling and Entertainment center which is kind of like those Ultimate Pizza complexes. This malls appear to have been a response to the factory outlet mall craze that started in the late 1980's but smaller scale, enclosed and bare bones decorating.

I had completely forgotten about this mall! It's like a mile from the much larger Superstition Springs Mall (which I assume opened later otherwise who would build this). I don't think I went here very much but I do recall coming here on a date in 8th grade ages ago. We had gone to see a romcom at a nearby Harkins Theater but walked out in the first 15 minutes because it had a lot more sexually suggestive content than our young flustered minds could handle. We waited around at a nearby El Polo Loco until a friend and her older sister could pick us up. She drove us to this mall to shop around and kill time. The three of them started picking through an underwear bin at some store and my date and I got really self-conscious when the other two started asking if I wanted to see her wear them. None of this was helped by the fact that I had no idea what to do on a date. What's a mall without some awkward teen romance?

The word generic actually comes from stuff like the beer can. There would be a plain brown package and it would just say cereal on the front. Or cat food or whatever. When I was really little Lucky carried them. Then store brands took over. Plus new laws probably mean you have to say more than just beer on your label.
