This video is part 2 of the wireless SCADA for RC's. I give a quick review of various ways to grab the RPM's with some scope profiles of the ugliness that comes off the ignition system. I conclude with a DIY hall effect sensor that gets "shoehorned" into the tight flywheel housing on these Taylor big bores

Nice job Brian. Your test bench reminds me of an aerospace lab. Very impressive design. I think you need to sell your creation to Taylor. 👍👍🏆🏆

Mad scientist make my brain hurt lol. Not sure how many of the words I understand but this project is awesome! I guess I never really understood how these are developed

Hey Kyle, when you see the electrical "chaos" that comes off those magnetos, combined with the very sensitive electronics in things like the receiver, its amazing these vehicles run reliably. Thanks for checking it out buddy

You just made an episode of how stuff works!..man awesome! Soon we’ll see rpm on our remotes! Maybe be able to adjust timing on the fly

very cool! Loving your research Brian! I definitely like the clean signal from the Hall effect. the little digital monitor is legit too! I highly doubt Mike would void your warranty with the clean intelligent work you're doing! thanks for continuing to share man!

Thanks Todd, i just wish Mike would send me more engines to test! Good catch on your part with the Typhon servo situation from Kyle's video. There is no replacement for experience. Thanks for checking it out buddy

In the end you will be able to tune for ALL weather conditions. Ill have to take your word on all this. A bit over my head... i got stuff i bought last winter. Now i forgot what they are and what they are for.

@RCWalletVacuum I can't stand to watch that abuse of an elderly man. Sick bastard. Creepy Joe. Nasty. No, sir. Can't stomach television. If it weren't for my rc hobby, I'd almost never watch any television.

Hi Brian, im using a similar Hall effect sensor to pickup RPM on my arduino project. My engine uses a similar ignition, and im able to trigger the Hall effect sensor by simply zip tying it to the outside of the coil. I assume theres is enough magnetic flux transmitted through it to trigger the hall. I also had some luck zip tying the Hall effect sensor directly to the spark lead. It did work, but the coil seemed to give a better signal. Might simplify your setup. Nice video!

Hey NZMike, what a great idea. I was trying to keep the hall effect as far away from the coil as i could do to emi, but it sounds like that may not be a problem. Perhaps the Schmitt trigger in the chip is the saving grace. Thanks for the tip and thanks for checking it out
