I was in an exchange program a few years ago and I remember my Tikanga Maori class, my teacher always tried to connect us with the maori culture through music. The last song we sang before I had to come back was this one and it's one of my best memories by far of New Zealand. I really miss it, I hope one day I'll be able to come back. This is Te Kura Takawaenga o Kaikohe, Northland and the marae they are at is Otatara Marae, Waima, Hokianga. This roopu came first in the Tai Tokerau regional kapahaka for primary/intermediate section and will be competing this year in Tauranga for the Nationals in november 2013.
