In my opinion. There’s something very wrong with so much people putting so much attention on Halloween. I hate Christmas cuz it glorifies narcissism and materialism, and it’s a huge misinterpretation of a pagan ritual by weird Christians (for the most part) but most people look at it as a love language you speak with only the ones you care about. The people I know that usually go all out on Halloween, like every one of them are the type that lean heavily towards darker, more fantasy based forms of entertainment. Yet, these are the kind of folks that are easily spooked, often believe in various conspiracy theories, have deep-rooted, unresolved childhood trauma, and are typically social outcasts. It’s regressive behavior and I think the state of society today is growing less empathetic and obsessed with shock/thrill culture. I’m an atheist and I was a metal-head, goth kid. I was always embarrassed by the average, normal person appropriating goth culture with stereotypical stuff like devil worship, and satanic cults aside from the majority of people trying to prove that is who we were. Not a great deal of people actually care about the family gathering and bonding aspect of thanksgiving but they sure as shit love grubbing down. There’s a pattern of superficiality and need for material possessions. I guess I hate all holidays and people consume more crap and are less concerned with culture. 😂
