Hands down best halloween sequel to the original. H4 felt so close to part 1 and really gets you in the mood

Was really surprised by the quality of this film. It's not Shakespeare but it was a nice change and tried to keep the spirit of the original films. Danielle really shines in this film. Personally, I prefer H20s ending to Halloween 4s ending. I acknowledge that Halloween 4 was the better film, but Laurie killing Michael and finally being free was better than the evil never dies melancholy of Halloween 4s ending for me.

Cyd, your out-of-character reviews are really well constructed, but I (and probably all other Wolfula fans) would love if you had the Doctor do his reviews on this and the first two films.

Still trying to get across my head how loomis is okay but Michael is in a coma for 10 years.. I feel like it should be reversed but okay.. maybe part of the reason he was put in a coma was because he went through a lot more than loomis that night.

Part of me wishes the series ended here. Or at least they didn't force Micheal back into the picture in Halloween 5. As that was probably inevitable because Hollywood. Should have carried through with the ending of Halloween 4 and make Jamie the killer in H5 if anything. I enjoyed the movies after this, not counting the remakes, but H4 had the best way to end the series. Or Micheal's role in it following this particular storyline. Still getting H20 would be fine by me.

Halloween: 10/10 Halloween 2: 9.8/10 Halloween 3: have not seen it yet. Halloween 4: 10/10 Halloween 5: watching it tomorrow lol

I think I prefer these sorts of reviews rather than the reviews with the Dr. Wolfula character. You actually talk about thematic material, the writing, and other behind-the-scenes questions. You also *review* or give what you actually thought about the films rather than just explain the plot point by point.

Personally, Halloween 2 and 4 are my favorites of the series. When I think of Michael Myers and the Halloween series as a whole, those movies come into my head first. The original is definitely the best movie, and the most competently made, but it's also a little bit on the dry side. It's not the kind of movie I can just throw on any time. I need to be in the right mood. But I love the gritty, darker cinematography of Halloween 2. It's creepier and also funnier, and just easier for me to watch. I also adore its synth renditions of the original movie's soundtrack. And of course Mr. Sandman. Halloween 4 is just dripping with atmosphere. It has so many memorable scenes, some of Donald Pleasance's best performances, and Jamie Lloyd is probably my favorite protagonist of the whole series. It's a little bit dumber than the first one, which makes it a little easier to watch because I don't feel like I have to respect it and commit myself to it, but it's also competent enough that it doesn't piss me off. If I just want to watch Halloween movie for fun, I would always pick Halloween 4. And as much of a mixed bag as Halloween 5 is, I do still like it as a companion piece.

4 is my favorite horror movie of all time

This was the Halloween that scarred me for life with even trying to watch this series. I was 7 when I saw it mind you, to this day I can't watch it in the dark or really at all.

this is by far the most fun film in the series. Just a very solid entry in the franchise and my favorite tbh next to the original with III and 2018 coming close. I love its more action focused tone

The biggest flaw of this movie was filming location and the mask. If they filmed it in the original location (South Pasadena) and used a mask more similar to the original in terms of the subtle features, it would have been great.

the tone of this film is constantly fighting against the frankly hilarious looking Myers mask, otherwise its better than it has any right to be and is probably the best sequal of them all.

great great sequel. larger scale scenes such as the roof scene and the pick up truck where he takes down about 4/5 guys.. lot of stunts, being bashed by the car and the shoot out at the end and dr lomis who is always brilliant. probably best sequel until 2018 one. deaths are very good also

I agree this is one of the better sequels in the series, maybe the only thing i can say that's kinda iffy is the mask. Yeah, it's clearly not the original, but in universe, the mask got burnt to hell, so of course Michael had to get a spare. But it could have looked a little better. Fun note, the gore (Well, the thumb in forehead and the neck rip at least) was actually created by John Carl Buechler, who would also directed "Friday the 13th Part VII" that same year (And do some effects for "Nightmare on Elm Street 4" too)

My 2nd favorite 'Michael' sequel after 'Halloween 2', but the mask in this is almost laughably bad in many scenes. Whenever they show Michael's face now i can't stop noticing how wrong it looks. The 'Warlock' mask from part 2 is sorely missed in this follow up.

H4 is my favorite out of all of the series hands down

I like H4.....H5 for that matter...they both give the Fall season, Halloweenish feel to both. The premises of all of these is silly, so enjoy them for what they are. 🎃🎃

One of the most significant things for me in H4 was the look of the mask. Certainly not the worst, but nowhere near the eerie quality of the original. It would have been good if you could have commented on its overall effect in the film. Am I right in thinking that had to change it as the Shatner mask got them in some legal trouble?
